Buffalo’s Black Residents Express Anger and Frustration After Racist Mass Killing
Ten people were killed in an attack at a Buffalo grocery store, including several older shoppers and a supermarket security guard. Before the attack, the gunman is believed to have posted a lengthy, racist screed online and expressed admiration for a white supremacist ideology known as replacement theory.
“You expect us to keep doing this over and over and over again — over again, forgive and forget,” said Garnell Whitfield, a former fire commissioner who lost his mother, Ruth Whitfield, in the mass shooting, “while the people we elect and trust in offices around this country do their best not to protect us, not to consider us equal.”

We ended up gabbing from the audition all the way to the subway. We let train after train pass by that day, and have been friends ever since.
