Somehow this weekend I survived a Spartan Race – often said to be Japan’s hardest race – involving a 1,100m mountain climb with 20 obstacles over 6km in blistering temperatures. (All while wearing Dr Jelly running shorts). Honestly, I’ve no idea how I came out (mostly) unscathed, but it felt like an incredible next step on this ongoing fitness journey. I was able to shoot the whole nightmare from start to finish & the video will be out in October! And special thanks to @nicholaspettas_ & Angela for encouraging me to take part and to push my physical limits! Can’t wait to take part again early next year.

Being back in the UK for the first time since 2019 has done me a world of good. Felt like I’ve finally cleared my thoughts for the first time in years. Still a couple more weeks to go, but already feeling revived & refreshed. I’ve been in a creative slump in recent months unable to be myself, forgetting why I enjoy doing this. Forgetting why I enjoy anything at all. It’s like a part of me was locked away. And yet, I’ve had more ideas in these past two weeks than the last 6 months combined. After a lot of self reflection and staring at ducks, I’m excited to dive back in and returning to make the second half of 2022 something special. 🙏 (And YES we were able to film a pretty epic video while being back. I didn’t get to escape Youtube entirely 😅).

Today marks the 10 year anniversary since I moved to Japan! It’s been one hell of a crazy journey and I feel so damn lucky to have shared the ups & downs with you guys along the way! But to celebrate we’ll be dropping the trailer for Journey Across Japan: Escape to Paradise tomorrow (at long last!) 🥳🍿 And the first episode of JAJ will release on August 14th, which happens to be the ten year anniversary of the Abroad in Japan channel itself! I honestly never imagined I’d be in Japan this long, or be producing Youtube videos for a whole decade. But I have no regrets – I feel incredibly lucky to have gained so many amazing friends over the years here in Japan and I’m bloody proud of the Abroad in Japan community for being so awesome and sticking around for so long! Thank you to everyone who’s watched us over the years, there’s still so many amazing things to come – starting with this series! Hopefully it won’t disappoint 🍻
