Over the last year it has developed from a minor injuries unit to a brilliantly effective UTC, relieving pressure on A&E hospitals in the region. 95% of patients do not need to be transferred. A vital resource in the #NHS in difficult times. Great atmosphere, grateful patients, a superb initiative. I got to cut the cake and everything. 🎂🎈

An update on Alfie Pinckney @alfiesjourneyaplasticanemia from his Dad, my friend Charlie: Six months post bone marrow transplant, Alfie continues on his turbulent yet ultimately positive journey. He still has hospital visits twice a week and is on a plethora of medication morning and evening and takes it all in his stride. He is still home-schooling and very limited as to outdoor activities he’s allowed to do but is starting to get out more, especially to play tennis indoors which he adores. When he is stuck inside he exercises his mind by reading, knitting, doing 1,000 piece puzzles and learning how to play chess. We continue to be ever grateful for all the love and support from everyone around us and his rare condition is still a stark reminder of how important it is for anyone who can to donate blood and to get on the bone marrow registry in the UK by visiting DKMS.org.uk

Showing @thomasjprice__ how it’s REALLY done. My masterpiece and his brave effort are part of the @bonhams1793 auction in aid of @_hospitalrooms. It’s an inspirational charity, bringing art into mental health institutions as part of the healing process. Never more necessary than now. For those who don’t know my art work I tend to use biro, sometimes pencil, or in this my latest work, felt tip, focusing on the neglected craft of matchstick figures as a reflection of the simplicity of humanity.
