Ciao amore
Met some incredibly talented and creative humans on our adventure to #sicily , ate life changing food, drank in every ounce of sun, dug my toes into the softest sand, swam in the salty sea, made sweet memories, and deeeeeeply indulged in the #dolcefarniente. Non vedo l’ora di tornare.

A moment to appreciate the work of art that is my #hair. Let’s talk about it! I haven’t always loved my hair. I’ve been through many an awkward phase, trying different cuts and color combos to learn what works for me. I used all different kinds of products, but now I think I’ve finally found my mane groove. First, I have to shout out the masters @prose! I’ve been using their #shampoo , #conditioner , and scalp mask for over a year, and have never been happier with the health, texture, and shine of my hair. #prosehaircare is designed specifically for your needs, so expect to fill out a lengthy questionnaire before ordering your products. But trust me, the time it takes and the investment is so worth it. And a little goes a long way with their products, so use conservatively. Their products are #vegan, and they use only natural botanicals and herbs to create exquisite, luxurious scents. I always go for the eucalyptus! I only use a detangling brush on my hair, and always start by gently brushing the ends, working my way to the scalp. I have a lot of hair, but it’s very fine so I have to be delicate with how I brush and handle it. I tend to towel dry, then let it air dry whenever possible to avoid frying my hair. I use cool/warm air when using a hairdryer, and lower heat with barrels to create the beachy waves I’m so fond of. And lastly, I’ve been working with the talented and wonderful colorist @chelseajaymes the past few years. She and my hair stylist @sabrina_lanasa_hair at @spokeandweal in #Nashville keep my luscious locks healthy and fresh to death!

It’s not so easy to get to Saturnia, a small village in the middle of Toscana. Surrounded by rolling hills, olive tree farms, and vineyards nestled in deep valleys, is Le Cascade Di Saturnia. This is a sulfuric thermal spring where the water is as warm as a bath, and contains so many essential minerals. If you look behind me in the second photo, you can see the waterfalls that flow into the pools. I sat in meditation for nearly 40 minutes under one of the high pressure areas and allowed myself to just receive a deep, cathartic massage from Mother Nature. I can’t remember the last time I felt so relaxed and nurtured. Traversing the pools full of people takes a bit of balance and mindfulness, but once you’re in, you’re in. This moment was definitely worth the trip.

I found this cute little flat on @airbnb super last minute on my way through #Firenze. It’s the perfect place for one or up to four people. For extended stays I prefer to stay in AirBnB’s because they’re more economical, and you get more of a sense of what it is to live like a local. I’m always reminded of how much I love traveling when I travel. This spot is walking distance to the Duomo, Piazza del Mercato Centrale, Santa Maria Novella train station, and Palazzo Medici. Keep an eye out for this one if you’re passing through Florence on your next trip to Italia 🇮🇹 #traveling #florenceitaly #airbnbitaly #travel
And this is why we travel. To meet parts of ourselves not yet discovered; to immerse ourselves in the present the way only traveling can; to be overcome by wonder and magic, to gain new perspectives, new appreciation for the things we take for granted, and receive inspiration. I find myself enthralled by the architecture here. At some point, when the delirium from jet lag and hours of running on adrenaline, from hauling my bags cross the world sets in, I notice that maybe I am not drinking in the world around me, but rather the other way around. Are we in 2022 or somehow in some time past as well? Time becomes a funny concept, and if I stare at anything for too long, I can be swept away into another dimension entirely. I lose concept of separation, feeling at one with everything in the universe. And yet, I am here. And then here becomes something else. It becomes something far more surreal than the pictures and videos can properly reflect. I remember that I am alive, and I contemplate the lives of the people who built the cobblestone streets I’m walking, the colorful buildings with their charming shutters, in which many undoubtedly faced unimaginable hardships. I remember the wars endured, and remember how very fragile and vulnerable humans are. I remember my worth, who I am, and the responsibility I have to leave something of value behind for the next generations, despite my fears that there may not be many more. Then I remember that all the former generations have probably thought the same. I remember that thoughts, beliefs, dreams, they’re all part of the grand ocean of consciousness, which no one owns, but of which we are all apart, that we’ve all drank Cleopatra’s bath water, and that each of us has a true voice so unique and valuable that it has the power to create worlds. Ai sognatori ✨

It was a full dream to attend the Venice Film Festival, and the premiere of Andrea Pallaoro’s gorgeous film, ‘Monica’. Beautifully captured by @katearizmendi, starring @tracelysette, Patricia Clarkson, @emily.c.browning, @jclosefaction, and @adrianabarrazaoficial, ‘Monica’ creates a deeply intimate experience between viewer and protagonist. The story is told through the lens of a trans woman, played by Lysette, whose dying mother doesn’t even recognize her. Universal themes such as abandonment, identity, sexuality, loneliness, and loss are explored in this timely and sensitive film. An achievement by all the artists and producers involved, and I hope this film will create more empathy for those in the trans community, those who struggle to connect authentically with their families, and those who don’t feel safe enough to vocalize their truth.
