There is currently a house bill the SAFE ACT HR3355 that can end this NOW! This bill will save our beautiful horses from being shipped in horrible conditions to foreign countries to be brutally slaughtered! This bill was removed from the Full Committee mark up and it MUST to be put back TODAY!
Please Chairman Pallone and Speaker Nancy Pelosi add the HR3355 back to the full mark up IMMEDIATELY we must save our beautiful horses for this horrible practice!

Over the last 20 years, over a million of our iconic American horses have been shipped to Mexico and Canada, under brutal conditions, only to land on the dinner plates of wealthy European countries. They are packed into stock trailers and deprived of food or water for up to a 7-8 day journey to foreign slaughter facilities. Many will die or be severely injured during this journey, due to the inhumane transport practices.
Unfortunately, arrival at the slaughter facility only brings additional horrors for these defenseless horses. They drag the horses unable to stand by binding their hind legs and then hoist them into the air where they are dismembered alive.
For the others, they are whipped into a tiny chute and shot with a captive bolt, which does not work with equines the majority of the time because of the shape of their heads. They are then hung upside down from a pulley attached to their hind legs and are dismembered alive, suffering for up to eight minutes.
American horses have played an integral part in our history, and are majestic, loving animals that do not deserve to be treated like this. They are powerful healers for veterans, people with PTSD, anxiety, depression and a child’s best friend.
The SAFE Act when passed will permanently ban horse slaughter in the US. ( Horse slaughter facilities are currently closed due to a defund amendment). It will also ban the shipment of all equines to slaughter facilities outside of our country. Thus saving horses from this shameful treatment, and saving the humans who are consuming them from eating meat not intended for human consumption.
