Today we cut our hair, we burn these veils but not our bodies. Not anymore. Our bodies belong to us, not people who rape it day and night with their eyes, hands, genital organs and stupid barbaric rules and protocols belonging not even to the Middle Ages. مادربزرگ من خود سوزى كرد. به جاى اين روسرى، به جاى زنجيرهاى مذهب و سنت كه روحش را زندانى كرده بودند، خود را سوزاند. روحش از احساس گناه، استيصال و خجالت پُر بود، بى هيچ دليل. من ٤١ سالِ بعد، درست روزى كه او خود را سوزاند، ١٩ تير به دنيا آمدم. امروز ما اين روسرى ها را مى سوزانيم، نه بدنمان را. ما گناهكار نيستيم. و بدن ما نبردگاهِ نيست. اين بدن از آنِ ماست، نه كسانى كه با نگاهشان، دستانشان، آلت هايشان و قوانين قرون وسطا شبانه روز به آن از بدو تولد ما تجاوز ميكنند
