Life is fragile. And no-one knows that better right now, than multi-Olympic-gold-medallist and former seven-time World Record holding champion swimmer, @michaelklim1.
Since his days smashing it in the pool alongside lifelong buddies, Ian Thorpe, Daniel Kowalski and Chris Fydler, Michael’s world has now become one of chronic pain and endless hospital stays, after he was diagnosed with a crippling auto-immune disorder with no known cure, called CIDP.
Those legs and feet that years ago propelled him to greatness in the water have been eaten away and left him unable to walk, unassisted. And his future right now is unknown.
Tonight, on the Sunday Project, I sit down with Michael, his wonderful partner Michelle, and gorgeous kids, Stella, Rocco and Frankie, who are all fighting alongside him to try and raise awareness of this crippling disorder.
This disease is incredibly cruel, and Michael is, quite simply, a beautiful man.
