As I shared yesterday in my story – I had a really difficult time filming Camp Rock 2, not only was Tess butchered after giving her such a lovely character arc in the first movie, but I also had mononucleosis. I was 17, working mostly outdoor night shoots, during a very cold Canadian autumn (like ❄️ cold), and I was so so sick and being berated, bullied and manipulated by men at least 2x my age. As you can see from this pic of me asleep on a dance studio sofa during a short break from rehearsal, I truly couldn’t keep my eyes open. (Featuring angel @annamariapdt who was a great friend through all of this) I haven’t shared this article much, mostly out of fear, and it only scratches the surface of some of the goings on, but the very kind @roisin_o_connor did a beautiful job conveying some of the darker complications of that period. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/features/disney-child-stars-alyson-stoner-meaghan-martin-b1863553.html (link in bio) I am incredibly thankful for the successes and frustrations that I’ve had in my career, and ultimately I wouldn’t change anything other than standing up for myself more. I recognize how much privilege I’ve had and it’s part of why I haven’t spoken out more about the uglier parts, but we are at a crucial point in history where we can acknowledge that not everything is as shiny as it seems, perhaps especially when it comes to the entertainment industry. I do plan to share more about this in the future so not trying to leave anyone hanging but gotta save some 🫖 for the book – kidding… mostly.

🎞 Stony Brook Film Festival! You have our hearts! 💙 Honored to have screened our short “Before Seven” in one of the largest theaters we’ve ever seen, ⛵️ and in a seaside town bursting with lovely characters (and pirate ships 🏴☠️). You made our 1st in-person film festival since the pandemic, so special. 🎥 We MUST take a minute to acknowledge the insanely good films that played with us. 🎭 We laughed harder than thought possible at the absurdly genius @globlessons, cried and giggled in snowy Ithaca with @thisisafilmaboutmymother, and were touched by the powerful realism of @northstar_thefilm and Elevate @andrewcarlberg ✨ 🎬2,000 entries were whittled down to 38 selected films—so we’re grateful for the opportunity to share the playbill with y’all! Extra love to our muse & lead actor @meaghanjette who brought her wit and sunshine across the pond from London. 😘 👩🏻🤝👩🏼👬🏻👩🏻🤝👨🏼 Shout out to the Famulari Brothers and Harrison siblings who completed our Ray Sister rainbow of related & creative collaborators. 😉 🌈 ¡Gracias, Grazie, Merci, and Thank You @stallercenter! Especially @joshoohhaahh for taking care of us & our teammates….and starting off the festival with a carpool that will go down in history: “How do you feel? About South Dakota? I’m neutral” 😂 Photo Credit: @seanfitzthum 🙌🏼 📸
