It’s hard to fathom it’s been 30 years since Can I Borrow A Dollar?. I can definitely remember going around promoting the album and getting as many people to listen to it as I could. The album is so monumental for me because it was the first time I was being recognized as an MC and an artist. It was my first album! I’d always dreamt of being heard but also wanted to represent the culture of Hip Hop from the perspective of Chicago.
It was that first step towards this journey that I’m walking today and I’m proud to represent myself, 87th Street, the South Side of Chicago, and all my homies with this album.
The album wouldn’t have happened without @cubansoze, @the_twilite_tone, @derekd1971, Peter Kang (who signed me at Relativity Records), @thebeatnuts, Fashion, Kirk Yano and everyone else who helped in the process. I just want to give thanks because they were the ones who helped create this dream.

It was such an incredible opportunity to be a part of the show “Mo!” The show itself inspired us to do so much musically and take the scoring to a whole different level. @moamer really wanted us to go to new places. We were encouraged to bring in all the elements of the music we love, plus the things that are rooted in the music he loves. It turned out to be one of the most fun and creative experience that I’ve had and I couldn’t wait to tell everyone to watch the show over and over!

This has been a dream of mine for a very long time to act in a play, to do theater, and to be a part of a theater company. I am supremely grateful and overwhelmingly inspired to be a part of “Between Riverside and Crazy.” I can’t wait to begin this process and to live this journey. You never could have told me that little south side boy that he would be on Broadway. When I got this role, I called my mother like I had gotten my first record contract. Haha! It was that much joy. I have been told how hard the work is and that there’s nothing like it. This is what I want as an artist and as a being that believes art can heal and inspire. I want to be a part of the theater community to express that light and love. I thank GOD for this opening of doors and this blessing. So pls come check out our play y’all.
