As we get ready to launch season two of @wearemanenough I keep going back to this conversation I feel so lucky I got to have with my dad from season one. It was one of the most beautiful and healing moments of my life and the work has continued on over the last year between us.

Consent is: Freely given, Reversible, Informed, Enthusiastic, and Specific. FRIES.
Did you know that according to a national Survey made by my friends at @acalltomen, 78% of all High School Senior boys don’t know the definition of consent! This is one of the reasons Boys Will Be Human is so important to me. Let’s reach our boys before the porn industry does.
Oh and remember … you can always eat the fries by yourself.

As a man, as a human, and as a Bahai with spiritual beliefs that are not legal in Iran… I stand with the women of Iran. The last thing this world needs are men parading around as “moral police” trying to control of the bodies of women.

“About 170 years ago the first feminist, Tahirih was strangled by her own headscarf in Tehran, her body was thrown into a well and the well was filled with stones. Before she was killed she said:
“You can kill me as soon as you like, but you cannot stop the emancipation of women”
For over 40 years the clergy and the government of Iran thought they can treat half of the population of the country as second class citizens and no one will come to their rescue.
‘In recent days Mahsa Amini was killed for no reason but for not having proper head covering. Mahsa is a symbol and all women of Iran know that there are thousands of Mahsa’s that no one knows their stories. And there are millions of women who are alive but every day they live a life far from complete.
This is not a political issues this is a human rights issue. This is about half a population seeking equal rights. Seeking full citizenship rights.
For over 40 years this government has tried to keep the women of Iran down and still they have become some of the most educated women in the world. I believe the future of Iran is bound to be shaped by the women of Iran. AbdulBaha says:
“The woman has greater moral courage than the man; she has also special gifts which enable her to govern in moments of danger and crisis. If necessary she can become a warrior.”
Please message Iran’s self proclaimed supreme leader @khamenei_ir and tell him enough is enough. For how long will you put down half of your population? What joy comes to you and the rest of the clerics and those who follow you blindly for committing these atrocities?
I invite everyone regardless of your race and nationality but particularly the Iranian men to stand up for the women of Iran. Now is the time to say enough is enough.

For Maxwell and Maya, may you grow up in a world where boys are allowed to feel and be safe spaces not just for others, but for themselves.; and where girls don’t need protecting, because ther are not seen as objects but as people. And may you always remember that the strongest mescle i your Body is your heart, that you are worthy and loved – and that you are and have always been enough.

I am of course biased, but this is a book I believe all boys and young men should read. I wrote it as the older brother and friend that I never had growing up. It’s the book I wish I wish I had this when I was 12 and going through puberty and getting erections for the first time, 14 and struggling making friends, 15 and being bullied for being sensitive, and when I was 16 and having sexual experiences that I wasn’t emotionally ready for. I often say there’s been no handbook for how to be a young boy or a man in this world – so I did my best to write a version of what that looks like in 2022. The truth is no one talks to us young boys about the things we desperately need to talk about. From body image to acting like we know everything, to privilege, porn sex and consent … I really hope this finds the young boys who need it the most. If our young boys can’t become safe places for themselves… This world will never be safe for anyone.

As a Bahá’i, if I lived in Iran I could not get an Education and would risk (along with other religious minorities) being continuously persecuted, thrown in prison, and even executed for nothing except our religious beliefs.
