Setting up the duplicating fingers I made for my lathe so I can turn the new sections to add to the original balusters. The duplicating fingers are mounted on a bar at the back of my lathe and set to the required diameters of the baluster template I’m duplicating. The money is in the details. I’m working on making a gooseneck to add to an existing handrail because the handrail needs to be raised 6″ to bring it up to code. How to choose the right length handle on your lathe tool? It’s all about maximizing control. A good ratio to use is 5 to 1.
