Few things I do when I get overwhelmed by emotions, thoughts or sometimes anxiety:
1. shake, move or intentful dancing is all a part of dynamic meditation which I practice religiously. Try 5 mins of this with active exhalations and passive inhalations if you feel restless anxious energy in the body.
2. Deep Belly breaths. Most of the Pranayam techniques works in activating your parasympathetic nervous system. When you feel triggered for any reason, try breathing. Elongate the exhalation, if possible double the ratio of your inhalation.
3. Journalling. In Yoga, the mental body (Manomaya kosha) stores all the past emotions & memories (samskaras), which can show up as intrusive thoughts. I like to write about any unwanted feelings and thoughts instead of keeping it in. Understanding the body & the E-motion (energy in motion), opens the deeper layers of hurt that we’ve been carrying. The deeper we peel the layer, the deeper the reflection of the self.
4. Meditative Shower. This one’s my fav. I imagine all the worries and unwanted feelings washing away through the drain and fresh, postive energy flow though me as the water hits my head. You can also say a few affirmative words to yourself:)
5. Chant. I like to chant ‘OM’ and a few other chakra specific mantras. You can use any mantra that’s close to you and feel the vibration of the sound. Or, you could also try Brahamari Pranayam (I have a tutorial on my highlights).
6. Create a vibe. You can rub insense oils, use candles, insense sticks, flowers or put on some soothing music; to uplift your mood.
7. Sleep. Need I say more?
One thing, I have learnt though my healing journey which started with spirituality & yoga is that you don’t heal with storing in the emotions (that ways you’re creating more misbalanced energy). You start healing with letting it out (through safe expression), that ways you’re clearing & releasing the pent up energy (one by one & gradually).
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, IT’S CALLING FOR YOU!

Human body movement.
As simple as letting go, when it comes to dance & more profound and detailed when it comes to cleansing energy channels in yoga. They are both using movement, as a fundamental derivative to work on emotional blockages in different body parts & releasing the pain thereof.
If meditation can help you find a balance, dance can put you in a meditative state. If in dance you can find a moment of liberation, Yoga can liberate you of your life cycle.
They are both different from each other, yet a bit similar In the movement of life.

OIL PULLING: First thing in the morning, once a day. In Ayurveda, oil pulling ( GANDUSHA & KAVALA) is a part of our dincharya. In Gandusha you hold the oil in your mouth for as long you can comfortably do that. In kavala you swish around the oil for 5-15 mins. This pulls toxins out from the mouth: resulting in fresher breath, firmly rooted gums, preventing gum diseases and cavities.
BRUSHING: Twice a day. Morning for freshness and evening for oral health;) I joined the night brushing club really late and can’t emphasize more on the importance of it. I am using @georganics mineral toothpaste which retains the tooth enamel and is great for dental health. This came around when my dentist in India told me that my staining is happening because of using harsh (detergent like) toothpastes (all over the counter toothpastes you can think of), which is removing the enamel of my teeth. With mineral toothpastes, you can physically touch & feel a smooth thin layer of protection on your teeth.
TONGUE SCRAPING: I do this after oil pulling in the morning and after brushing in the night. That’s just how I like to do it. The idea is to remove all the toxins sitting & clogged on the surface of the mouth. Rinse later:)
FLOSS: This one’s my fav and again I started this after my dentist insisted. We are not even aware of how much of plaque is stuck in bw the teeth and around the gumline. One of the best ways to prevent cavaties and gum diseases.
All products are from @georganics which are organic, natural, sustainable and effective. Their packaging is completely plastic free & sustainable. Their brushes are made with wood and floss with charcoal fiber. They bottle their products in glass and use recycled plastic when needed.
They are cruelty free and Vegan🌱 and what more can I ask for😀

Who would agree sometimes it gets too boring to have just plain water? 🙋🏻♀️
And then we reach out for soda, coffee, aerated drinks etc.
Not only that, often we confuse dyhydration with hunger. Good thing is you can, without guilt add it to you daily water intake quota; unlike other dehydrating drinks (tea coffee cola) that you must be consuming. This is one my fav pastimes as it’s not only fun to have, but also fun to create and serve others when you have guests over.
What I like do:
Immerse these combination of fruits, veggies & herbs in plain water and keep them overnight. (In a fridge). If you can’t keep them over night, then atleast for 4-5 hours for all the flovours to release in the water.
Refrigerate it for 4/5 days easily.
Serve it chill & Enjoy! I like to rest it outside for sometime and have it room temperature.
You can also eat the fruits in the water. Just remember, the longer the fruits have stayed in the water the blander they become😅 as they’ll slowly lose all their flavor.
I usually remove the fruits from the water if I am storing it for the second day. Meaning I keep the fruits infused in the water for about 24 hrs (including overnight soaking and following day of serving).
These infused water have a bunch of benefits:
Hydration
Reduces bloating
Aids in digestion
Appetite control
Source of vitamin C & antioxidants etc
I can think of a bunch of more ideas while writing this post. Is there any idea that you like to try?

7 Tips to start a healthy routine☀️
It’s like a butterfly effect. You take one small step towards a bigger picture that you’ve visualized and you notice a ripple effect of everything falling into place. Routine & Discipline are very important for any habit to form successfully. These are the things that I do and I am unapologetically, very strict about it.
I believe doing a few things out of your comfort zone can make the rest of the life relatively comfortable.
This is my sane zone. Lemme know what’s yours?

Pranayam or Breathwork 🫁🧘🏽🧘🏽♀️
Works effectively only when we allow the Breath to travel down the spine without any restriction. In yoga a straight spine is a must for the flow of PRANA (inflow of energy) & APANA (outflow of energy). Here I am sharing a few tips to correct our method of Breathing for a smooth & a successful practice. Hope you find this helpful:)

I always get this a lot: ‘You are sooo flexible but how do you get your strength from yoga’?
Now before I begin, I want to say that I am all game for strength training and I really feel it’s a must for everyone. As we age we need more muscle tone and strength to support our knees and joints. If you got the time and are doing weights and strength training, that’s awesome as that’ll always top the list. However, understanding of strengthening asanas with proper core engagement will advance you in your yoga practice.
After years of working out, dancing and yoga; I just want to share some light on how drastically my strength doubled up after regular practice of yoga. I didn’t even realize that every day of moving from one asana to the other, I was constantly transitioning through downward dogs & chaturanagas. Which is a lottttt of push ups you can say:)
So here is a post about a few asanas I like to incorporate into my everyday practice which helps me in my arm balances like crow, headstand and hand stands.
My go to for strength is an active vinyasa flow or sometimes functional training or Ashtanga Vinyasa practice (which in itself is a functional training, apart from being a yogic practice).
Lemme know what you feel about it:)

250g spaghetti or linguine pasta
1 cup boiled peas
1 cup fresh parsley
150 gm silken tofu
1 tsp chopped garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt, pepper and Italian seasoning to taste
2 tbsp almond or any other plant milk
How to make:
-Boil pasta till al dente
-Bend boiled peas, fresh parsley and silken tofu with salt, pepper and plant milk to get a smooth creamy paste for your pasta.
Although, you don’t need to blend too much as silken tofu melts easily just like cheese:)
-Heat olive oil in a pan, add the garlic.
-Cook it for 2 minutes. Don’t let the garlic turn brown, just mildly cooked.
-Add the spaghetti and the paste.
-Quickly toss, fold and add the Italian seasoning.
-Remove from heat and serve with a drizzle of olive oil, garnished with parsley.
