Navratri honors the feminine divine power and is observed in the month of Ashwin as per Hindu Calendar.
These sacred series of nine nights is believed to signify the importance of the victory of good over evil.
Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, together with their powers gave birth to Durga, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, the daughter of Himavat, the lord of the mountains.
Maa Durga fought the evil demon over a period of eight days and finally killed him on the ninth day with her trident (Trishul).
These nine days of theDevi represents the omnipresent cosmic Energy. The whole Creation is permeated by this Energy. The prosperity that we enjoy in our daily lives is a manifestation of Devi.
