Jacinda Ardern Instagram – Up in West Auckland today visiting some of the new screen industry studio space we’ve helped support. Some fun facts: there are now 7900 employees in the Auckland screen sector, and that’s increasing at about 5% per year. That growth has been supported by a significant increase in studio space (from 5000sqm in 2014 to 42,100sqm in 2021) and 80% of those employed across this sector are medium to highly skilled workers. We have some really exciting new productions either here, or coming, and the trick will continue to be ensuring they help benefit and train our domestic workforce, and to see those numbers keep ticking up!
