Are you a hand talker too? I’ve even tried sitting on my knuckles but my hands inevitably release themselves to take flight during a conversation 😂
With @soniahird in Colombo, patiently tolerating my handspeak
(Or rather ‘hand-splaining’ as @nishappics put it)

Minor outbreak of 90’s Hindi film memento of a reluctant actor.
Renounce if you can, a lie about yourself a day.
I believed I was confused and lost. Broken, self conscious and reckless but also too erudite for Bollywood. That’s the stories I told myself while filming. The truth is life was waiting for me to take my seat at the table, to quit making excuses, stop taking anything personally and dance – even with my two left feet- with radical ardour.

In an archival mood.
Now that I’ve left the travelling circus of the entertainment world- barring a few key exceptional projects – it’s safe to turn around and flip open the tent, every once in a while, if only to gauge the stages of self determination behind the images.
Almost exactly 10 years ago, my husband to be and I rallied to support a Multiple Myeloma fundraiser in Toronto.
Ten years. One relapse. Five cities. Twins. We have covered a vast landscape of triumph and lows, while love and partnership has expanded in ways I could never have imagined.
The narrative power of redemption stories and second lives and chances is potent for a reason. And then you live it. And whatever concerns the world at large ceases to matter. That’s the enduring lesson. Whatever sparks your inner pilot light. Keep that close. Let the rest of it fall away.
Sharing the post from a decade ago, when we embarked on a journey of ‘us’.
‘Saying ‘I do’ to life. Finish line crossed for the MM5K Walk for the Bloom Chair for Research for Multiple Myeloma. Thanks to everyone for supporting our fund raising. Next major project: getting married to my Beloved.’
Update: the MM5KWalk has raised over 9 million dollars over the years for Multiple Myeloma research Princess Margaret Hospital via the Bloom Chair and the incredible efforts of my friend @cindyleder has always led the way for us snd many others
If you are in Toronto please support the next one

Henri Matisse // “The essential thing is to work in a state of mind that approaches prayer.”
Confession: I’ve just not been sleeping well. I get my 8 hours but instead of waking up refreshed, I’m drowsy and wondering why. So when I found out about the Welnamis experience @bioliteuae I knew I had to give it a shot. Cocooned and surrounded by gentle sound waves, my first experience was nothing less than sublime. This science backed acoustic and vibrational therapy makes it possible to achieve deep relaxation and a dreamlike state after even one session – though you won’t want to stop at just one. While this therapy was developed to treat PTSD of American vets, it can now be used for stress management, power napping, increasing resilience and creativity and something called ‘brainwave entertainment’
There’s no replacement for an embodied experience and the first thing I texted to my friends @bioliteuae the next morning was ‘thanks for the best sleep I’ve had in a decade.’
#REPOST @mumbaismagic with @get__repost__app Happy #MangroveDay!
@svabhukohli’s extraordinary artwork titled ‘Cabinet of Curiosity’ captures the essence of why we need to preserve Mumbai’s precious mangroves. 🌳🐍
Mangroves are among the most powerful nature-based solutions to the climate crisis. These extraordinary ecosystems support rich biodiversity and act as a natural coastal defense against storm surges, tsunamis, rising sea levels and erosion.
“Mumbai’s urban jungle is home to a forgotten forest that not only allows the city to persist, but also creates room for nature to coexist and flourish.” @svabhukohli
How many of these species have you spotted?

#REPOST @robinpeckham with @get__repost__app A few years ago when I did the Yale happiness course (highly recommended on Coursera, should be a core requirement for adulthood) I decided to institute a mindfulness practice. It worked wonders for a time in its own right, and after a while I learned how to integrate mindful breathing, thought clearing, loving kindness, and body scan techniques into my physical practice, primarily through distance running. Meditation might be grounded in specific traditions, but as an umbrella term for forms of contemporary practice it becomes a radically open suggestion to savor the internal experience. Charwei Tsai’s work has tracked a few different meditative traditions, focusing over the last few years on tantra. She explored this heritage by pushing at its geography, moving north to Mongolia, west to India, south to Indonesia, east to Taiwan and Japan, finding and engaging with in each territory forms of living that resonated with both tantric meditation and deeper (and less specifically named) modes of being with the earth. Her 2021 exhibition “The Womb and the Diamond” brought together several of these threads, from woven mandalas co-created in Indonesia to her own calligraphic repetition of Buddhist sutras at a massive scale, culminating also in a mirror and diamond mandala composed of mantras spoken in a single breath into glass globules just as they were blown. In her more recent exhibition this spring, “Coming Together,” she continued to weave strands across the same broad geography, most notably for me in suspended spiral forms reminiscent of mandalas inscribed with romantic poetry—where it becomes evident that this contemporary mindfulness is not about following rules but rather feeling for the threads that constitute experience. Exiting the exhibition in the rain I made a series of phone calls that went unanswered due to a network error. Rather than religious practice we seek and find divinity as practice; grace as practice; connection as practice. They all require focus on a daily basis but we should probably stop calling it “work” and give it a gentler name instead. #repostios #repostw10
