Jayden Daniels Instagram – Whina is out in cinemas today. In it I had the privilege of portraying Cryil Chapman. Cyril was 20 when Te Rōpū o te Matakite marched from Te Hāpua (Far north) down to parliament in Wellington. Cyril held the Pouwhenua in various moments throughout the march and ultimately walked it into parliament. The Pouwhenua signified our connection to this land and wasn’t to touch the ground until the grievances were settled. In tribute to this we did not let our Pouwhenua touch the ground during the duration of filming. I am proud to be able to tell part of his story in this movie.
