I always enjoy what I do for a living but some projects have more resonance than others. The opportunity to shoot the cover of @bazaaruk itself is an honor. On top of it, to do it with @ashleygraham was another gift all its own. The strength and unity implemented in the shoot is a metaphor for how it needs to be in life. Oneness, togetherness, family and love. I believe that those values are directly reflected in the pictures and that makes me very proud indeed. Reflecting on the events of #mlk50 and thinking about the question that everyone was asking: #wheredowegofromhere It is really shocking to consider that despite all of the so-called advances that we’ve had in the past half century, meaningful progress has yet to be achieved. Even though his physical voice has been silenced, his words sting just as prophetically sharp and relevant as they did 50 years ago. Reading/listening to King in the present day is really a call to action. And getting the chance to stand in the place that he fell was the honor of a lifetime. I know exactly what I’m going to do to contribute to the #movement . I couldn’t be more proud to announce the premiere of #isthatblackenoughforyou on Monday, October 9th at the @thenyff And then on @netflix November 11, 2022. It dawned on me the other day that this fall marks the 20th anniversary of my decision to pursue filmmaking as a career. To have this film represent 20 years since the beginning of my mission is a milestone that means more than I can express on IG. A very special and sincere thank you to @theelvismitchell for entrusting me with his vision. To @ciaraleilacy for trusting her gut and pushing for my participation in this landmark film. And to Terry Leonard and @makemakeentertainment for being such amazing producers.
