When Onch asked me to be a part of a kewpie jewelry collab I instantly screamed! Obviously because Onch is a genius talent, but ironically I grew up with kewpie!!! Near my home town in Lima, Ohio after every dance recital we would head over to a burger joint named kewpie downtown! I’d always order a 🍔 with just ketchup and a sugar cream 🥧. It was honestly the best burger (sorry in-and-out) n pie around.
Doing this shoot was so nostalgic and created a deeper connection to the brand. This is the first time the kewpie doll has been portrayed in all skin tones! This wasn’t just to add variety to a collection, but to reiterate the importance of representation. It is a demonstration of recognizing individuality and acknowledging community.
