In a rare respite from the wasteland, I was lucky enough to go and spend a day learning about the incredible fauna of Australia, specifically koalas. And to my absolute amazement and delight, this little guy dropped down from his tree and graced me with a cuddle. I am so appreciative of these conservation centers and the volunteers that work tirelessly in them. It is crazy to think that for many of these animals, they are more affected by human intervention in the wild then in these sanctuaries. The spreading of awareness of what deforestation, climate change and frankly, a multitude of mostly human caused issues is doing to our fellow earthlings is devastating but necessary. I barely have an idea of where to start making things better for them but I hope for the sake of everyone, we preserve and protect these beautiful creatures. Thank you to the hardworking folk at the hospital helping their wild counterparts recover from disease and the fires. I hope we all keep trying to take care of each other.
