This is an old photo of me and Rev Graham Long from Wayside Chapel. I’ve been supporting Wayside as an ambassador since 2006, because I’m a big believer in their mission of creating a community with no ‘us and them’. It’s why I’m walking 28km from Parramatta to Kings Cross this Friday- to show people experiencing homelessness that they’re not alone. Want to join me? Registrations for Long Walk Home close midday Thursday 6/10. Go to Longwalkhome.com.au
Some things I learnt on the Heron island fellowship @groundswellgiving and @theclimatecouncil with @heron_island_research_station ,(trip was carbon offset with @greencollarau ) Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction. Action creates hope. More Aussies die of extreme heat than all the other extreme weather disasters combined. Countries that are least responsible for climate change are the most vulnerable to its effects. Pollution from cars kills more people than car accidents. 0.5% is the percentage of charitable giving received by climate and environmental organizations. The most important thing you can do about climate change is talk about it. Book in a meeting with your local/state/federal representative to talk about your climate concerns. Face to face. I’m chasing up my federal member @tanyaplibersek today! Word on the street is that she’s got some relevant gig in this sphere of influence 😉. You are more powerful than you think when it comes to climate and politics. Thank you to all the speakers @lillemadden @tishfish__ @rjhuntley @ove.hoegh.guldberg @frontrunnersathletes and Sam McLean and Dr Simon Bradshaw
