In making this video, I realized I don’t own a pink dress or sweater or anything? I had to use Steve’s linen shirt for tropical vacations. On my first two kids, I did total surprise and only found out they were girls at birth. For the 3rd and 4th, dad got to choose whether we found out and I let him call the midwives to get the reveal.
Also, did I do a gender reveal that involves literally no one else in my family? Yes, because getting kids and husband and dog involved is complicated. Keep it simple!

Fit Thor and Fat Thor. Who else? Originally, the plan was to be Hemsworth and Portman Thors, but I got pregnant, so couldn’t pull off Mighty Thor. I will be setting a goal to get her arms in 2023 tho. The big girls went rogue this year, and we scared the crap out of the baby trying to get her in costume and in this shot. She did… not recognize us. More to come of that disastrous bit of the photoshoot.

Lotta talk on Instagram about the mental load of moms and all the work they do to keep their families on schedule and doing all the things. I have this, and had it double when I was a single mom, but it is not really my skill set, to put it mildly. There’s a lot to be said for marrying someone with the executive function I do not have. But sometimes he does so much so efficiently that I’m just like 😬 “yesss, I was just going to get to that laundry pile and/or bill and definitely hadn’t forgotten it existed the second I walked out of the room 8 times today.”
I am thankful for our dynamic, as it kinda subverts some of the usual assignment of roles and we end up really pretty even on household contributions, I’d say. This is my long way of saying, every silly Reel or TikTok about husbands not putting dishes in the dishwasher or leaving a trail of clothes instead of putting them in the hamper? Reverse it for us.
Did I make this Reel instead of folding that laundry? Guilty as charged.

In honor of #hocuspocus2, the time the girls and I were the Sanderson Sisters for Halloween. Omg, there was so much fabric to make those dresses look bustly and old-fashioned. In general, I do not recommend #cosplay with a 2- and 4-yr-old. Very high level of difficulty. Not for the faint of heart.
Have you ever tried to assemble a 17th-century bodiced frock with petticoats for a toddler? The pacifier with Winifred’s teeth painted on it was an innovation. Winifred’s hair was made of two shower poufs on a headband. 😂 Sarah Sanderson’s sleeves are a cut-up pair of mom’s fishnets. #okayestmom I think I’m wearing some combo of dress, vest, sweater, and table cloth with a purple clip-in extension in my hair. One of my favorite costumes ever, even if they had brooms they never touched. It took all the Reese’s I had to get these pics! 🧡💜💚🧙🏻♀️
