I think of her often and wish she’d been here to see her niece and nephew. Some of the nicest, loveliest humans I know left and I wonder, why is it that the soul decides to take that sort of a journey. Praveena always found reasons to laugh and was the spark of joy in the hospital where she was treated, cheering up doctors and others like her. She wrote such beautiful lyrics. Caption : Throwback to when Titli released. The one time I got appreciated in public by anyone in the Industry and it was SRK. I remember breaking down and laughing at the same time. That was also around the time people made be believe I wasnt good enough a singer. The brainwashing was soo subtle yet powerful enough that I was mind-effed into quitting singing altogether. Coupled with the fact that my own Mother-Guru never once said I sang well enough ever I guess I believed I was terrible. If there was one thing I learned from this man – people always remember how you made them feel. And this man genuinely, truly makes everyone he meets feel like the most important, precious person in the world. I have Shekhar sir and Vishal sir to thank for this. And guess what – I recorded Titli when i had a neck injury and couldn’t move my right arm due to the C1-C2 on my neck pinching a nerve. The stories of how some of my biggest hit songs were sung always have a pretty strange backstory.
