It’s happening! Dimity’s first Christmas is officially at the beginning of its progress bar. @lydiahearst did a stellar job setting up the tree! Just a few more decorations and it’ll be in full Yuletide mode. Now you might think it’s a tad early, but normally we do a Halloween tree in Oct that rolls into Xmas so we’re actually right on schedule. It was a live talk show about a TV show, which people thought was an odd thing to do at the time. Shortly before we’re about to go on air, apparently the set felt too much like a plain talk show set so the prop dept found a piece of driftwood, put some nails in it, stuck some doll hands on it to give it more of a horror-themed talk show vibe and dropped it onto the coffee table. A few episodes later we forgot to bring it out for the show and people flipped! “Where are the doll hands??” “WTF?!”, etc. At that point we knew that a) people were actually watching our show, and b) it was important to our fans so that little prop never missed another show again. About 6 years ago, we started theming them around things that happened in that night’s episode—just a fun little nod to WD and an intricate detail for those fans who were paying attention. So now here we are…to celebrate the end of a Walking Dead era, @OrangeCometNFT & @AMCTalkingDead are auctioning off 11 unique one-of-one NFTs to pair with PHYSICAL RECREATIONS of our famous set prop. Hey! I’ll be doing stand-up first the first time since Feb 2020 this weekend @punchlinesf! C’mon out! I’m bringing a guitar AND a keyboard which should be interesting considering I still get nervous playing piano in front of people. Side note: This piece is Mozart’s Allegro in B-flat major, K. 3 which he wrote when he was six. The end of the video is both a reference to Amadeus and also Mozart’s love of fart jokes. Which is not a joke! He actually wrote a canon called “Leck mich im Arsch,” literally “lick me in the ass,” colloquially “kiss my ass”. True story! And let us not forget Ben Franklin’s “Fart Proudly” article. Also a real thing! In short, if fart jokes are good enough for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Benjamin Franklin, SURELY they will be good enough for you this weekend at the Punch Line. Hope to see you there!
