Poornima Indrajith Instagram – To a very special Saturday! 19-11-2022 I was beyond delighted to have the opportunity to witness the laying of the foundation stone for ‘The Handloom Village’ aka ‘Kaithri Gramam’ ; a point of focus on Kerala’s grand hand weaving tradition. Those of who know me, knows my love and attachment for the weaving societies and I cannot express how proud I am for it’s rich legacy and glory to be revived and restored at Chendamanglam under the Directorate of Handloom and Textiles. As a true tribute to Chendamangalam and Paravoor areas known for its weaving industries, this project promises to be a cultural melting point where tradition meets tourism and will be a platform for production, demonstrations and sales alongside a handloom museum which will be one of its main attractions.
