Whitney Mixter Instagram – It’s been a minute… I usually try to make a “profound year-end recap” post on my bday (which was on 8/8 so I’m only 2 weeks and a whole astrological sign late) but clearly I didn’t this year. Not because I didn’t know what to say, but because life happened and I decided to focus more on that. This month a lot has taken place: I turned 40.(ayyyyy!)🥳I’ve had an abundance of love shown to me among the people that matter the most that I am so grateful for. I’ve gone on intergalactic healing journeys🐸. I’ve let things go that no longer light me up and am making room to explore new outlets for things that do. I’ve continued to be blessed with raising a beautiful, kind, magnificent lil being who’s evolving SO fast and teaching me SO much. I’ve taken time. Taken silence. Had emotional highs and lows. And ultimately am grateful for all of it. So in honor of tradition…here are 4 takeaways…one for each decade I’ve been honored to be here for: 1. Writing your own life against the grain of perceived normalcy can be scary, hard, intimidating and make you second guess yourself. Do it anyway. The “norms” we’re used to ain’t it. 2. It’s ok to not fill yourself up with news & current events. It doesn’t make you less intelligent, less invested, or less caring. We where never designed to be able to withstand the influx of information and global trauma that we do. There is a GREAT need for people who can create and maintain space to serve as the refuge & recharge for the world. 3. You have time. (This doesn’t include the planet having time..we def need to fix that shit asap) 4. Find excitement & joy in discomfort…thats where the growth lies.
