Aaron Dessner Instagram – @thenational played our last show before the pandemic in December 2019 in Lisbon. I remember thinking it would be a perfect last show if it was the last national show (I’m prone to apocalyptic thinking 😳). And of course Covid descended and for the first time in 20 years we didnt play any national shows….for almost 3 years. All the space and time away from touring has been good for us in ways — lots of life and music has happened 😉 — and we’ve had a LOT of time to search for new national music/songs, diving deep into that process. I’ve never been more excited about new national songs …it feels like the well is full again. So we decided to play some shows this summer to find our feet again live and test out some new songs…..very soon we will start to share some.
