It’s hard to believe that today marks five years since I had the privilege of speaking @TED Women. Many people don’t know this but I tried to get out of
this #tedtalk multiple times. Grateful to @patmitchellmedia and Mina Sabet for not letting my fear of failure keep me from this important work. And for @emilybaldoni for pushing me to do this just a week after Maxwell was born.
Little did I know that this talk would be just the beginning of an incredible journey in un-learning and un-defining my own masculinity, and would lead to two books, a podcast and a movement for men to embrace ALL of the parts of themselves that make them not just men… but humans.
It hasn’t been easy, the road has been bumpy to say the least, but it’s the bumpy roads that take us on life’s most beautiful adventures.
So grateful for all my teachers, and especially all the women in my life who have supported me, held me accountable, lifted me up when I felt like I wasn’t enough, and reminded me of my worth and nobility along this path. And especially grateful to the men who have messaged me, approached me in the streets and validated this work. It’s hearing from YOU that keeps me going.

A post on #healing.
Healing looks different for everyone, but most (if not all of the time) the un-talked about / taboo part of healing is that it sucks. It’s messy, non linear and you often feel worse before you feel better. There isn’t an app or a class or a plant medicine ceremony or pill or meditation that you can short-cut or bio hack path to healing or enlightenment. It’s 100% of the time hard and painful and yet also light and mercy.
My calamity is My providence, outwardly it is fire and vengeance, but inwardly it is light and mercy. – Baha’u’llah
There are as many ways to heal as there are spiritual practices and religions. And often times each practice or person will say their way is right. So let me say this… if you ever hear that one way is the only way… run away. It’s not about what’s right, there is no beat when it comes to healing. There’s only what’s best for YOU.
For me, I practice a few modalities. In addition to weekly somatic therapy focused on the body and the feelings stored in the body, my work with energy healing has been an incredible practice for me and Emily. We practice it individually and as a couple with @drjohnamaral and his wife Christina. If you’re skeptical that’s okay- that GOOP special didn’t do his work Justice.
But it’s not for everyone and it’s certainly not affordable. That’s why I highly encourage everyone interested in healing and the relationship between the body mind and health to read @gabormatemd The Myth of Normal.
As he says:
“Trauma is in most cases multigenerational. The chain of transmission goes from parent to child, stretching from the past into the future. We pass on to our offspring what we haven’t resolved in ourselves.” – Gabor Mate
And regardless of where you are on your journey… you are not alone. We are all healing from something and it doesn’t have to take over your life. I want you to know: you will get worse before you get better, but remember that no matter how much darkness you may find in your path, we are all made of light. On the cloudiest of days there is sun behind the clouds. The only way out is through.
You are loved. You are seen. You are held. You are enough.

Tears often speak the language the heart doesn’t have words for.
So grateful to be back in Haifa visiting the #bahai holy land on a three day pilgrimage. Praying in the Shrines of `Abdu’l-Bahá and The Báb was the spiritual cleanse I needed. Overflowing with gratitude tonight.
“I want you to be happy…to laugh, smile and rejoice in order that others may be made happy by you.” – `Abdu’l-Bahá Bahai Garden, Haifa, Israel
I stand with my Iranian sisters and brothers who are being brutally silenced and murdered by their own government. The mass execution of political dissidents must end. As a Baha’i, I’m too familiar with how extreme the oppression and violence can be toward a people who only want peace and equality. But I have also seen how powerful our voices are when raised together. Please join me in speaking out and using the hashtag #stopexecutionsiniran to demand an end to this violence. You really can make a difference.
The sauna has become both an uncomfortable teacher and a friend for me over the last few years. There’s nothing like sitting in a 200 degree sauna, letting all the stuff you’ve been holding in come up and pour out of you, looking out at the mountains and then jumping in a cold tub. We moved to the country to give our nervous systems a break and this set up from my friends @salussaunas is literally a dream come true.
I’ve heard it said that if there were such thing as a magic pill that someone could take to increase overall health and longevity decrease all cause mortality it would be as simple as getting in a hot sauna either at home or a local gym a few times a week.
Data shows that Regular use of sauna can improve cardiovascular health. In one study it was shown that through regular use of sauna, participants reduced their risk of cardiovascular events/stroke that led to death. I’m pretty sure it’s one of the reasons why Finnish people so often live to be 100!
EFFECTS OF SWEATING IN A SAUNA:
Sweating by overheating the body produces these effects:
• Burns calories, and therefore assists in fat loss programs.
• Speeds up metabolic processes of vital organs and endocrine glands.
• Places demands upon the cardiovascular system, making the heart pump harder and producing
a drop in diastolic blood pressure.
• Creates a “fever” reaction that kills potentially dangerous viruses and bacteria and increases
the number of leucocytes in the blood, thereby strengthening the immune system important
for fighting colds, flu, and cancer and bolstering resistance to infections.
• Excretes toxins from the body, including cadmium, lead, zinc, nickel, sodium, sulfuric acid and
cholesterol.
• Promotes relaxation, thereby lending a feeling of well‐being.
And these are just a few of so many other beneficial properties! I personally try to do it at least 3 or 4 times per week.

Dads wear cocoons too! 😜
Just holding my new little niece and rockin #thecocoon from my wife’s amazing company @weareamma. Part 3 of 3: What if birth and death are the same?
When Maiya was born, I had a lifechanging realization: this would not be the last time I greet my daughter’s soul.

Thank you so much for having me 🙏🏼 Link to order your copy in my bio!
If deep down we all don’t feel like we fit in, then who are we trying to fit in with?
This exercise is one of the several “Gut Checks” I have in “Boys Will Be Human”. The idea is to help our boys get out of their heads and into their bodies so they can observe themselves from a loving, compassionate and honest perspective.
Hopefully this book will help our boys navigate the complexities of being a pre teen and teenager and open them up to a new framework of masculinity!
If you know a boy 11 to 100, consider gifting them a copy this Holliday season!

And once again, my wife has been possessed by the Holiday Spirit 😂
Meeting Zach Sobiech changed my life forever. This is a clip from Zach’s episode of “My Last Days”. A documentary series @amusiol and I made with @soulpancake on youtube ten years ago which inspired me to make #CLOUDS all these years later.
Most people don’t know this, but after a conversation with Zach and his then girlfriend @aeadamle about marriage, I went home and started planning my proposal to @emilybaldoni. I proposed two month later.
Many of the friends that I’ve made on this journey are not physically here anymore, but their stories and teachings live on, and I feel their presence and energy all the time.
Watch the full episode in the link in my bio.
In case you needed one more reason to feel your feelings: Did you know that tears can contain stress hormones?

I learn something new about my Swedish wife every day.
Anyone else suddenly craving schmores? 😂🤷🏻♂️
@gabormatemd is one of the most brilliant minds of our time. There are very few guests that I fanboy over, but getting a chance to go deep with him and talk all things healing, trauma and masculinity was a “pinch me” moment for us. I really hope you listen to this week’s episode and take notes as Gabor takes us to church!
If you haven’t read it yet, please please pick up a copy of his life-changing book #themythofnormal. @wearemanenough
“Powerful statement by the Bahá’í International Community at the UNHRC Special Session on Iran:
“Our hearts and the hearts of every unbiased observer ache as we watch the loss of innocent human life in Iran. As Iranians of every age and all walks of life call for social justice and equality, but are met with violence and repression instead of efforts to engage everyone in a genuine conversation on the future of Iran.
As you know, the Baha’is in Iran are all too familiar with persecution, with suffering, arbitrary imprisonment, denial of higher education, hate propaganda, executions, and daily harassment for 43 years. In fact, what we see in Iran today is the extension of this persecution to the generality of Iranians. A government that oppresses one group will surely be unjust to all groups in the long run. The Baha’i International Community has in all this time called for international legal mechanisms to hold Iran accountable at the United Nations, bringing its human rights violations to the world’s attention. Such mechanisms are the last hope of every oppressed individual, the only way the UN can stay true to its founding principles, showing victims of persecution that they can trust the human rights system, that human rights crimes cannot be committed with impunity, that the world stands with them, and will not let them suffer while we watch.
Establishing an independent fact-finding mission on Iran will now reinforce the call that Iran must abide by its human rights commitments. And it sends a message to the Iranian government that what its people want is a government that respect the rights of all: women, ethnic minorities, religious minorities, and indeed everyone as equal citizens. Thank you.”

“Making it” for me is getting to a point where I can see that most of what society tells me to place value in is not what actually matters.

Happiness is not a limited resource – Christopher Aiff. Missing my spiritual brother a lot recently. Can’t believe he has been physically gone almost nine years. He was so wise and had so much to offer this world. I feel him a lot and still talk to him. Probably not as much as I should.
SO grateful I got to make this for him before he passed. Whoever you are, wherever you are…please take his words to heart. The choice is ours! “This is revolutionary friendship…it started in my heart, and it’s living in my soul.” I love you Chris.
