Last night, on November 29, 2022, a federal jury in Washington, D.C., found that indeed there was an actual conspiracy to commit sedition — the overthrow of our democratically-elected government — by a number of white male American citizens in the weeks leading up to the January 6th violent insurrection that ransacked the Capitol and sent 535 members of Congress and the lackey vice-president, plus their staffs, fleeing for their lives. But it turns out the five Americans convicted of various offenses did not include their ringleader, Donald John Trump. Until that happens, Justice has not happened. The other day on my podcast I read aloud 121 names of members of Congress, all of them Republicans. They each share two things: 1. On January 6, 2021, they all voted to illegally overturn the 2020 presidential election, effectively participating in an attempt to stage a coup, overthrow the U.S. government, prohibit Joe Biden from entering the White House & reinstall Donald J. Trump as an unelected president of the United States; and 2. On November 8, 2022, their actions to stage this coup & commit sedition were rewarded when the voters in their mostly gerrymandered districts returned them to a new term in Congress that begins two weeks from this Tuesday. And now, on January 3, 2023, all 121 of them will each put their hand on a Bible and, lying through their teeth (perfectly fixed & whitened, thanks to their free socialist Congressional health care), will “swear to protect & defend the Constitution of the U.S. against all enemies, foreign & domestic.” Does this strike anyone as a bit odd? Doesn’t it seem like if you tried to overthrow the gov’t you should no longer be allowed to be a part of it? That if you provided aid & comfort to those who ransacked Nancy Pelosi’s office and spray-painted “C**T” on her wall, or if you, as a member of Congress, stood and voted for sedition through legislative action (either to secede from the Union or to prevent an elected President from taking office), you are Constitutionally prohibited from taking your seat on January 3, 2023? He has literally lied about everything. All that’s left is that, in the next 24hrs, we will learn that George Santos is not his name and that in fact George Santos doesn’t exist. This is the Republicans doing a nuclear test. They wanted to see, because they’ve gotten away with lying for so long, what if they ran a candidate that not only lied about everything all the time, but it turns out his actual existence was a lie? How many millions would believe that this was OK — as long as there was an “R” by his name on the ballot? When does Homeland Security declare them a terrorist organization?
Friends — On the first day of the 118th Congress, in a performance not witnessed by this nation in nearly 170 years, the House Republicans chose to commit a mass murder-suicide of their last vestige of electoral political power, putting on a humiliating show to the world, and offering massive relief to all who worried about the damage they might do to the USA over the next two years. We learned yesterday that the only true destruction these MAGA-heads are capable of now is taking their own running leap off the cliff of the Capitol Dome. After each of the first 14 ballots
In spite of our Blue Wall midterm success, the truth is that dark clouds hang above us. The disgraced, fascistic ex-president still looms large despite his electoral losses. White supremacists are trying to blow up our electrical grid. Overseas, a group of current & ex-military personnel were caught planning a coup in Germany. And back here, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene promised the next Capitol insurrection will be armed & it will succeed. But most frightening, 128 U.S. Senators & House members who voted on Jan 6, 2021 to overturn the election, thus overthrowing the gov’t, will be re-sworn into Congress just 3 weeks from today. On this episode, I take a deep dive into our biggest terrorist threat — us. Specifically, the fact that 1 of our 2 major parties is led by hundreds of elected officials who still want to overthrow the gov’t by overturning the 2020 election AND suppressing the votes of Black Americans. I call these efforts an act of treason. Plus, the current (twice-impeached) leader of that party has now called for the “termination” of the U.S. Constitution—and demanded that he be installed as our unelected dictator. Madness! But it’s real. And on 1/3/23, 118 House members & 10 Senators—all of whom voted on the night of 1/6/21 to overturn the election—will be sworn into our 118th Congress. This sacred headquarters of our Democracy will house 128 traitors who tried to overthrow our gov’t. What are we to do about this? To help create & cement the historical record, I name the names of each one of these traitors. Please listen. Then pass it on to everyone you know. We mustn’t forget their names til every one of them is thrown out of office & held accountable for their actions. If there is one shining example of how we were all able to stop the much-predicted “red wave” of the Trump-backed Republicans winning the midterm elections in landslide fashion, the blue tsunami, the blue wall created by the voters in the state of Michigan must be recognized for what it did to help save our Democracy. In Michigan last month we had a record voter turnout for a midterm election. The voters created a full Democratic sweep of Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State AND BOTH the Michigan Senate and the Michigan House of Representatives. This completed a Democratic trifecta for the first time in Michigan in 40 years. In addition to this, the voters in Michigan will be sending a majority Congressional delegation to DC (7-6), also for the first time in many years. This is in addition to Michigan’s two Democratic U.S. Senators who continue to serve in the United States Congress. And, on top of all of this, we in Michigan on November 8th codified the absolute right to abortion INTO THE STATE CONSTITUTION. We also overwhelmingly passed two other ballot proposals enhancing voting rights and tracking the money politicians raise in our elections. Thousands of Michiganders worked hard for these victories, and millions of voters showed up — but there was one other linchpin that allowed for those red dominoes to fall. Mike’s Midterm Tsunami Truth #44: 40 Days to Do a 2-Minute Drill for Democracy. The odds are long. A Hail Mary pass or two is needed. The opponent is badly bruised from a whoopin’ they took on November 8th. They are left with what will be an anemic majority in the House. But that’s not til January 3rd. Until then, we have 40 days where we hold the lead and possess the power. If we choose to use it strongly, wisely and with a touch of cooperation from a teeny-weeny group of Republicans who are fed up with being the villains, we have a chance to do some good. In an amazing turn of events, a bill passed by the House last year to codify the 2015 Supreme Court decision to make same-sex marriage legal, has been shepherded by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer through the Senate where he convinced 12 Republicans to pass the House bill to make same-sex marriage the law of the land. So I got to thinking — how many other House bills have been passed in this session of Congress and are just sitting in the Senate gathering dust waiting for a vote? Turns out a lot! Many will need 60 votes for them to pass thanks to the anti-Democracy Republicans who keep the filibuster going. But some can pass with the 51 votes the Dems already have. Why not spend these 40 days and either convince a few Republicans to come along like they did with the same-sex marriage act or we just go ahead and pass the ones we can pass with 51 votes.
