Esha Gupta Instagram – What is the one thing we need at #COP15 right now? Ambition. Ambition to prevent the extinction of over 1 million wildlife species. Ambition to replenish fragile ecosystems impacted by overexploitation. Ambition to protect the wild places we have left and revive them to a flourishing state. But we’re running out of time. @un’s COP15 is the last, best opportunity we have to approve a new Global Biodiversity Framework that can stop and reverse the biodiversity crisis. As the clock ticks, we must safeguard our planet’s biological diversity and the vital landscapes and seascapes that are the backbone of our very existence. And we can do this by HIGHLY and FULLY protecting at least 30% of land and ocean by 2030. When we allow nature’s web of life to restore its natural balance, we gain resilience in the face of the climate crisis, diseases, and uncertainty. We do this by coming together across the globe to rethink and repair our relationship with nature. Ministers are now on the ground at @unep’s Biodiversity Conference (COP 15) in Montréal, Canada, and negotiations around the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework are advancing.
