Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE castles. But Abbey ruins hit me right in the gut. My sense of wonder is ignited. The architecture mesmerizes me to the core. . . . . . . #cymru #wales #visitwales #discovercymru #discoverwales #southwales #abbey #churcharchitecture
There are some days you will remember for the rest of your life…where you were, what you were doing. I, amazingly, happened to be in London very near Buckingham Palace today. I woke up and decided to go…I heard the 96 gun salute, I saw the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery make its way back to the Palace. The end of the second Elizabethan age is etched in my memory forever. #queenelizabethii #queenelizabeth #buckinghampalace
Don’t underestimate your phone camera! This was an extra magical moment at Caerlaverock Castle. I didn’t have my big camera with me! Never fear my iPhone is here! #castle #scotland #landscapephotography #caerlaverockcastle #medieval #historicarchitecture
Kilchurn Castle is always beautiful. But it was particularly beautiful today with the snow capped mountains an@style frozen Loch. 🏰🤩🏴 #castle #scotland #scotlandphotography #medieval #medievalarchitecture
Some of my absolute favorite castles in all of the UK are in Wales. Pembroke Castle is one of those. Henry VII, the first Tudor monarch was born here. His mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort was 13 years old at the time. . . . . . #cymru #wales #visitwales #discovercymru #discoverwales #northwales #southwales #welsh #snowdonia #cymraeg #northwalesgram #igerswales #castle #medieval #medievalarchitecture #tudors #henryvii #redqueen #whiteprincess
What I love most about photography is its ability to capture one precious moment in time. This picture was taken on my very first castle visit on my very first visit to see @cmlanger50 before we were married. A beautiful place. A beautiful memory. . . . . . . #englishcountryside #cumbria #lakedistrict #castle #medieval #medievalarchitecture #ruins #england
There’s magic in those stones. You can’t tell me there isn’t! 💚🏴 . . . . #scottishhighlands #beautifulscotland #landscapephotography #isleofskye #scotland
Have you ever seen the movie “A Knight’s Tale” with Heath Ledger? Wellll….that movie was inspired by a real person and that man’s name was William Marshal and he is considered to be England’s greatest knight. He served 5 consecutive English kings….One for the castles he is credited for enlarging and expanding is only 35 minutes from my house. I have been to this castle dozens of times and only recently was I struck by this room. You know I’m a sucker for an arched ceiling and light Sh I have through a window! . . . . .
There are some castles I just haven’t even seen photographed before… and these small crumbly gems need to be documented too. In fact, these are the castles that I am interested in most. It may not look like much now but it was an important strategic stronghold in the Middle Ages… important enough for Robert the Bruce to strengthen it. So much history …and now just the crumbling remains of a tower house survive. . . . . . #scotland #castle #robertthebruce #scottishhighlands #medieval #medievalarchitecture #ruins
Reculver Towers stands as a beacon on the coastline. The site of towers has been a place of importance since 43 AD by the Romans, in the 7th century by the Anglo-Saxons, and even during World War II when the area was used to test prototypes of the bouncing bomb that was used in the Dambuster raids. The site has been home to forts, a monastery, and a parish church. . . . . . . #history #historicarchitecture #roman #wwii #england

When Castle Acre Priory finally closed for to the Dissolution of Monasteries under Henry VIII there were 10 monks and the prior. Immediately afterwards much of the church was demolished and the lands were leased out. . . . . . . #ruins #churcharchitecture #medieval #medievalarchitecture #medievalworld #henryviii #history #historicarchitecture #historicbuildings #england #churchphotography #williamtheconqueror
Prepare yourself for a spamming of Castles in the snow. I literally wake up in December and January every morning and check the weather. I LOVE castles in the snow! 🏰❄️ #castle #scotland #dronephotography #snowday #scotlandphotography
So technically this is a folly…just built for fun and to show off really. But it is awfully pretty in the snow. 🏰💚❄️ #tower #folly #shamcastle #bath #england
My final image of 2022. What a Year it has been…full of joy, and tears, so do many stories, and LIFE. Thank you for exploring and learning with me. #cinderellacastle #scotland #aberdeenshire #castle #happynewyear2023
Lacock Abbey was heavily featured in Harry Potter…but waaaaaay before that is was a Nunnery for 300 years until the dissolution of Monasteries under Henry VIII. After the dissolutions Henry either kept the property for himself, gave to someone or sold the land and structures to make a profit. Lacock Abbey was sold and the owners converted it to a residence. . . . . . . #churcharchitecture #abbey #convent #medieval #medievalarchitecture #history #historyfacts #englishcountryside
I love photographing the truly forgotten castle. This in Innes Chonnel Castle. You can only get to it by boat or canoe…originally built in the 1200s and was one of the main strongholds of the Campbell Clan. In the later part of the castle’s life it was used as a prison of sorts (a place of confinement is the words used) for political and other prisoners. . . . . . . #castle #urbex #scotland #scottishhighlands #medieval

Castles that fairytales are literally made of. The amount of times I get asked if I ever go to castles that aren’t ruins is astronomical. I do. And when I do I like them to have reflecting pools and possible cartoon birds nearby. 😉 . . . . . . #disneycastle #scotland #castle #scottishhighlands #fairytale #scotlandphotography
