This photo makes me feel a bit like I have Turkey 🦃 feathers with those plants behind me 🤷🏻♀️… so happy Turkey Day/ Thanksgiving/ Indigenous Peoples Day🍁🍂 In all seriousness though, for many this holiday is one of gratitude and families coming together, for others I know this is a tender day as we honor my indigenous brothers and sisters (and non binary) whose land and home was taken from them. Whatever you call this day, it is so important that we honor this land and our history and give thanks and appreciation for it and the people of it. Although it’s origins may be murky, I appreciate what it has come to mean. A day to remind us to be thankful and grateful for all that we have, and the coming together of loved ones. With respect for the past and gratitude for our future, I’m grateful for all of you, for the opportunity to live and breathe each day, for my loved ones, and to get to live a life of passion and purpose, and much, much more. Happy Winter Solstice everyone ❄️ This time of year we are often told to rush to complete all that we did not finish in the past year, preparing for the year ahead. Though the changing of the tides and this wintery season is desiring the antithesis. It is calling for us to slow down. This is a time of reflection and pause, a time where we allow the seeds we have planted to hibernate only to be birthed anew when the sun comes once again in the new year. I love the correlation between nature and the self for it is a time where Mother Nature lay dormant and takes pause. Therefore it is a time for us to take pause, to reassess, and recalibrate all that we have learned, grown in, and created in order to assess where we are going and what we may create next. That said, something I have learned as of late… it is okay to slow down! In fact it is necessary in order to allow for new growth and expansion just as it does in nature. My dearest friend @nataliemacneil said recently, “I’m going to end the year soft,” as opposed to hard. I too am choosing to end it soft. With so many changes, hardships the world has faced, and so many ups and downs… I can’t think of a better way to honor this year and the self than to do it softly with grace, ease, love and compassion for all that you have gone through, and all that you are. No matter what you have done or didn’t do, I am here to tell you that you don’t need to do a thing to deserve love, compassion, and ease. Each and everyone of us deserves that. More of us are beginning to question the fabric of our reality. Trust in the old ways is more shaky than ever. The way government, culture, entertainment, and society has programmed this iterative cycle of living is starting to deteriorate. Which leaves in a unique state with a unique choice: Stay asleep, or decide to wake up? What a year this has been! I don’t know about you, but it was quite the year for me filled with trials and tribulations, deep love and changes in love, and through it all I am forever changed. As I sit here and reflect, looking back at the highlighted moments I realize that we don’t often capture the moments that challenge us, or rock us to our core. They may not be captured on camera, but they are captured within and if we are willing to lean in… it will change us for the better. Here are some reflections and learnings from my year and learning is that I help empower and inspire you on yours… ✨ YOU are the sole uncontested author of your life. What will you write? ✨PAIN is the greatest teacher. It is calling for you to Pay Attention Inward Now. ✨Boundaries are the most loving thing you can give yourself and another. ✨The world is not as it is, it is as you are. This week I was gifted something I’ve always dreamt of… getting to go to a mini horse sanctuary to love on these perfect little creatures. Many don’t know this, but mini horses and dwarf horses are often times cast aside and treated horribly, being thrown into kill pens or used for meat for other animals, and worse. Often times they are the result of inbreeding or used for sport rather than being treated with the love and care they so deserve. These sweet babies need our love and care.
