Mandy Teefey Instagram – The Alliance has held a cherished place in my heart since I first connected with the organization and its mission to support young people in foster care 10 years ago. I had my daughter when I was 16, so I have compassion for, and a deep understanding of many of the challenges youth face—especially as they embark on parenthood. The Alliance of Moms has brought together a vibrant network of mothers who are committed to supporting young families, and empowering them on their path to building positive futures for themselves and their children. I’m proud to continue my support of the Alliance’s mission through this incredible community of moms for moms. Most recently, at Day of Wellness, I met a young woman who had never left her children in anyone’s care, and she was feeling guilty for taking an afternoon to take care of herself. I was able to see a version of myself in her and remembered those familiar feelings of mom guilt. I reminded her that she is also a priority, and we were all there to support her. And, once she was able to let go, she experienced an incredibly rejuvenating day in community and connection. I wish I had an Alliance when I was her age. I’m so grateful to be involved now and to be giving back. Because, when you give, the gift you receive in return is priceless.
