For Lisa Frankenstein I worked closely with Los Angeles mime instructor Lorin Salm on movement and physical emotion. During the training we went over the “attitudes,” expressions of emotions largely developed by Marcel Marceau and performed in an attempt to convey an unwritten language about how we perceive emotion physically. Here Lorin performs a small portion of the many attitudes in my home studio, part of my larger ongoing series in documenting the art of mime. Joy, anger, sadness, pride are just a few of the dozens of existing attitudes, see if you can spot what each is trying to express.
