Poverty and unemployment are necessities of our economic system. You want something different? You’re going to have to organize, take power from and dismantle the ruling class, and create a new economic system in which the people democratically control the wealth we create with our labor. And you’re gonna have to start with something that can take hold of the reigns of this system. And that something is not public office. They don’t hold the reigns of this system. That something is a mass, militant labor movement that uses the withholding of labor as a tactic, can shut down portions of the economy, brealing current labor laws, and grows into a movement that has the numbers and leverage to allow the working class to get rid of this system and create a new one. There is no gentler capitalism, no alternative business model that changes the way capitalism works. Boycotting the bad companies doen’t change how capitalism works. From @theintercept
