“I also feel empowered to spread the message of owning your identity” ❤️ #NewAmsterdam
It’s been an honor and privilege to play Dr. Wilder 💙👩🏻⚕️ This photo was taken on my very first day of work on set for #NewAmsterdam. At that time, I had no idea what was in store for Dr. Wilder and how long she would be around… then fast forward to a couple of months later being on a call with David Schulner and Peter Horton, offering me to join officially as a series regular for Season 5, my first ever. Of course, I knew it would be the final season, so why not go out with a bang and show the world once again more of Dr. Wilder and her strengths as well as her vulnerabilities. It’s been a wild ride, no pun intended. Representation matters everywhere, and playing a role of an oncologist that happens to be deaf and uses ASL is rarely showcased in media. There ARE deaf and hard-of-hearing professionals in the medical field doing incredible things, proving that we’re capable of anything we set our mind to achieving. Working for #NBC on New Amsterdam has been truly incredible… and I’ll always carry it with my heart. Working with everyone on set, actors and crew, has been fantastic and filled with fun, uplifting, and profound moments. Everyone in the show truly made me feel seen and welcomed me to the #DamFam with love, respect, and effort to learn sign language just enough to communicate with me. And to the fans that have been watching the show from day one and welcoming Dr. Wilder late in the show with two final seasons, thank you, and the message of the show will always be this… “How can I help?” With love, #DrWilder 💙🤟🏻 P.S. I have SO MANY #BTS photos, will share once a while 😉 [image description] The main photo is in black and white. Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. ✨ 📷 – @kairavelson For the longest time, I’ve been in awe of Kai’s work because of the rawness and vulnerability that she captures. When the opportunity came to be photographed by her, I had to grab it! I was going through a lot of changes the last several months, good and bad. So, in my session with Kai, I asked her to capture my vulnerability as I’ve been guarded for a long time. Several weeks later, she sent me proofs and I fell in love with every one of them because I finally see “her” coming out. She’s been there the whole time yarning to be free. Make time to find yourself again, again and again. People in your life will come and go, only you that will always remain, so take every moment to love yourself. Find your fire and thrive. ✨ [image description] A fine art photo of Sandra with chin-length hair hiding the left side of her face, silver dangle earrings with quartz hanging, and a black string top.
It all ends tonight on #NBC… The #Series #Finale of #NewAmsterdam 💙 When I first read the finale episode, alone in my living room with my cat, I sobbed in tears. A bit of flashback to the past of our characters and how they all came to be. Giving hope for possibilities of the future and how YOU can help. The message throughout the series has always remained the question, “How can I help?” More words to come soon but for now, thank you for joining the wild ride of #DamFam and #DrWilder’s journey. 👩🏻⚕️🤟🏻 [cover description] Fonts in white with pastel pink/purple background, “The 2-Hour Series Finale.” [video description] A montage of clips of New Amsterdam featuring the main characters and their journey. They’re in lab coats, scrubs, and regular day outfits with scenes in the hospital room, helping patients, and the video’s mood is suspense with emotions.

What great news!! We, Olney Theatre Center of #TheMusicMan, received 9 noms for the #HelenHayes 2023 Awards! This was my debut co-directing alongside Michael Baron, a dear friend I’ve had the honor of working with over the years. When he asked me if I wanted to co-direct with him, I was terrified in beautiful ways, so I said yes and fast forward to being nominated for Helen Hayes 2023 is a victory. I wouldn’t have done it without the beautiful and talented people of #RiverCity, the creative team and producers of #OlneyTheatreCenter that believed in us, and lastly, the visitors that came to see #TheMusicMan, thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. Now, folks of River City… let’s cause some trouble! 🥳🤗🎉 1) Outstanding Direction in a Musical – Hayes (Sandra Mae Frank & Michael Baron) 2) Outstanding Production in a Musical – Hayes (Olney Theatre Center’s The Music Man) 3) Outstanding Musical Direction – Hayes (Christopher Youstra) 4) Outstanding Lead Performer(a) in a Musical – Hayes (James Caverly, Adelina Mitchell, and Vishal Vaidya) Outstanding Supporting Performer(s) in a Musical – Hayes (Andrew Morrill and Nicki Runge) 6) Outstanding Ensemble in a Musical – Hayes (Olney Theatre Center’s The Music Man) #Musical #ASL #Theatre #ASLMusicMan #HelenHayesAwards #DCTheatre #DMVTheatre Tagging more people since the post only limits 20 tags 🙄 – @michelleabanks, @norah_with_ah, #ChrisYoustra, @kcamp5678, and the fantastic interpreters, crews, investors, everyone involved in the production, thank you all 🤗
