I was right there for Becky’s audition and we were all very impressed at her high level commitment as an actor to become Cyndi Lauper.
No easy task, but she worked her butt off and went all in – and crushed it.

A very brave and slightly scary announcement!! Huge respect to @sophie_cr_ and the @silotheatre team for this. Cancelling their 2023 season to instead focus on developing new Theatre work, ours being one of them. My creative relationship with @anapelapolataivao is 20 years old, we have collaborated on about 14 projects to date (yes, I counted). We began the journey of ‘Women of the Mau’ in 2019. And then the world changed. As Sophie said, trying to retain creative motivation through the pandemic was difficult. Our conversations and research continued, sporadically reading, sharing images and ideas, imagining… now entering into 2023 knowing that we have dedicated support to eventually realise this work the way we imagine it to be (epic), is uplifting. Thank you Sophie and Silo for believing in our vision. This one is more than a passion project, the deeper we go, the more it reveals itself as a responsibility. To honour the Women.
