Today we celebrate the life of Stephen “tWitch” Boss. A true hero and artist that I was so lucky to cross paths with on the beautiful journey of life. I remember meeting him the first day of rehearsal for SYTYCD like it was yesterday! Seeing this man in real time was a dream come true and truly one of the best moments of my young adulthood. His smile radiated from his being and when this man danced it was power at its core. I had the opportunity to be one stage with him when he filled in for an injured contestant. It was the night before the show so we rehearsed late into the night. His passion and persistence rubbed off on me with every eight count, pushing me to find more in each shape, count, and rhythm. He was unstoppable, even with sweat pouring and bloodshot eyes, and the time honestly flew by. He began to unlock so many doors in my mind. The time spent with him was so so so valuable to not only my dancing, but to me as a human. He became a hero for me that day and his influence has continued to shape me since. Rewatching old dance videos has been difficult for me to handle but I had to step into the past to once again cherish this moment to its fullest. I can still hear all the grunting and power this man possessed and what he pulled from an 18 year old Kent. The way this man danced was the way he lived: larger than life, purposeful, and dynamic. He was and forever will be a legend. Long live the King!
