Pythia Instagram – 🌿🏺🏛️PYTHIA 🏛️🏺🌿
This shoot was such a full circle moment! I named myself Pythia in a way to reclaim my culture that felt stolen from me, and to channel and manifest ancestral feminine energy. Pythia was a powerful respected mystic that determined the fates of many a kingdom, and that energy was what I wanted to manifest. A way to be the oracle of a queer prophecy and a future with change that I wanted to see. When I immigrated to Canada, I hated everything about my culture. I asked people to call me by a more western nickname, I practised hard to change my accent and dissociate myself from my culture in any way possible. I felt angry and cheated and lost, because I didn’t think there was space for someone like me in my culture. However, I have learned that I don’t have to fit into a certain mold, because in reality, there is no mold. There is no one way to be Greek, there’s no one way to be queer, and theres no one way to be human. That’s what makes us special.
