Pythia Instagram – The Delphic Oracle 🏛️🏺🌿So this week, my dear friends @athensbears made a HUGE dream of mine come true, which was to do a photoshoot at the temples of Delphi, the residence of the Pythia, the ancient high priestess and oracle of Apollo. Pythia had a huge role in the Ancient Greek world, and was among one of the most powerful women in the classical world. She held a lot of political power, as world leaders, emperors and kings alike would visit from far and wide to hear her prophecies that would determine the fates of entire kingdoms. She would enter a dreamlike trance from the vapours of a chasm underneath the temple, and while chewing bay leaves she would channel the voice of Apollo through her.
Standing in drag at the exact same grounds as all the past Pythias stood and spoke their prophecies thousands of years ago, was so cool and just so emotional. I have no words of how incredible it felt. So here are a few shots and there is much more to come!
