.
Understanding ourselves takes time, everyone’s journey looks different, and that’s ok! Sometimes blossoming our authentic selves is an incremental process that may not give us clarity until we’re in our 30s or 40s, like me. And that’s ok too!
.
I am blessed to be here another day. Grateful to my loved ones and community for making me feel seen/held/heard, for affirming my own right to healing, joy, respect to my dignity, to be loved. I am a real person. In this post are pics of some meaningful times in my life that capture what I’m sitting with today.
.
To trans community of all ages: Please know that what many of us in the public eye post is just a post. It cannot possibly encapsulate all of who we are or what each of our lives are about. Queer and trans people are not a monolith. You be you. Stay true to who you are and who you are evolving into. There are many people fighting for our present and future, many ancestors and transcestors who paved the way so we could show up. We need you. I need you. I love you.

Sara Ramirez Instagram – Pic of @fednajacquet @smatesky @jordanecooper @ebonym_o @crystallucasperry @marchantdavis on the Belasco Theater stage during their bow at the end of @aintnomobway, 10 multicolored stars in a line across the top of the pic, β€œTHANK YOU” in large yellow font above the actors’ heads, the backs of heads and bodies of an array of audience members giving the play a much deserved standing ovation, and β€œLee Daniels presents AIN’T NO MO’ written by Jordan E. Cooper directed by Stevie Walker-Webb” in bright fuchsia font along the bottom.

To the brilliant cast, crew, director @steviewalkerwebb, producers @leedaniels, @marvetbritto, @lenawaithe, and the entire producing team of @aintnomobway, thank you for your heart, your spirit, your humanity, your truth, your energy, your storytelling! @jordanecooper , there are no words but I’ve meant the ones I’ve already shared. You have made history in so many ways, not the least of which is being the youngest playwright in Broadway history. Take up all the space today, tonight, and beyond, knowing there is a large community rooting for this to not be the final destination, but rather a brief layover on the way to what’s next for #AintNoMo. As community collectively continues to work to save Aint No Mo beyond this run, I am eternally grateful for the way this work is generative and healing for so many. We need Black art to be properly supported and set up for success on Broadway and beyond. We need Black art, we need radical Black art, we need radical Black Queer art, we need this play, we need you.
