Last session I did the crux sequence 6 times in a row, which consists of about 7 moves total, then a pumpy top. I’m doing the bottom quite easily now. Today I’m back in margalef and I’m really motivated to try to link the bottom with the 7 crux moves.
Is Journey 9a+ or / ?
There’s just not enough accents of the route yet.. but lately I’m starting to feel like it’s definitely harder than víctimas Pérez which is a solid, hard 9a .. so would that make it 9a+? I have no idea what this grade should feel like.. and I’m really not a fan of / grades. 😂 I haven’t given the grade any thought to be honest, all I know is that this route is next level for me, no matter the grade. But I am curious. If you’ve tried journey let me know what you think!

Yesterday I decided to lock in my new project for the season. After my 5th try on the route, I managed all the moves and did baby links. I was waiting for the humidity to drop a little before fully committing to the project because i was scared it would feel so much harder then what it already is, unfortunately the weather isn’t improving and with yesterdays work I proved to myself I’m still very capable of at least training links and finalising beta. Surprisingly, for me, my progression on the route is coming pretty fast. I’m really motivated with This one.

Whilst I was in Australia. We held a 2 day climbing work shop for woman of colour. We shared stories and listened to each other. I learnt a lot from these beautiful woman, I could relate to who I am as a “mixed” woman, that sense of having amazing unique cultural connections yet still having the feeling of not really knowing where Im from.
I was born in Australia, but I grew up with an influence in all my cultures .

I can admit, being mixed can feel hard, I’ve always felt this sense of not really being fully anything and not fitting into any category of nationality. But yet,
I was the smelly kid at school that had chorizo for lunch from our Spanish butcher mum would buy from. I grew up with grandparents that didn’t speak English. My Dad and I are completely different skin colours.👴🏾👩🏻 My Abuelo (grandfather) use to sing flamenco around the house. 💃 I’ve woven baskets whilst drinking coconuts with my aunties in Tonga. 🥥 🌴
The thing is, I’m from everywhere but not really anywhere And that’s the beautiful thing about being culturally diverse.

My first trip of the year .🥹 happy new year everyone🤍
I can’t remember if I’ve ever even had a non climbing related holiday, usually I don’t go to places without rocks.😂 But Cádiz is a very special place for me as it’s where my Abuelo grew up. I decided to take a few days to visit his home, I met the my family that remains here and I created memories of my own. My heart is filled. 🤍
Now back to margalef and onto the new project..I’ve got work to do! 😆

I used to feel like the years moved slow, now every year goes faster than the last! 💨My 2023 goals feel pretty big and indimidating, but thinking about it now, I felt the same at the beginning of this year and I am really happy with what I achieved. Now I feel hungry for something more and as goals become more challenging you demand more from yourself and there becomes more room for faliure, but I’m ready to see what next year brings or what I can bring into next year, every year we learn a little bit more, through which we grow and become better versions of ourselves. Cheers to a new year. 🥂
