A Dior Collection Research, photos of the real clothes and our recreations. We did consider a photo ‘dump’ apparently it is the ‘in’ thing!! But you really can’t use the word ‘dump’ in the same sentence as ‘Dior’! I started to really enjoy fashion thanks to Dior but still don’t want to wear fashion! I would look mildly ridiculous in most of it. Keep with the workwear Jen!! @mrsharrismovie @dior

At the Vanity Fair party with wonderful Ruth Carter! She gave me my Oscar last year and I am only sorry I couldn’t present hers this year!! One of the highlights for me this year was meeting all my fellow nominees. What a group of incredible costume designers and women!
Thinking back on the Mrs Harris journey and finding the photographs of us in masks, and some which emphasise the glamour of filming on location …! Remembering the added difficulty of doing fittings in masks, visors and surgical gloves (although we gave up on gloves fairly quickly). It was so distancing from the characters we were trying to create, and each other, but obviously kept everyone safer. Masks, lockdown, quarantine and working in Hungarian! (not the easiest language on the planet) added to our challenges but everyone was so understanding and helpful and we got there! What a crew – not many of us but all so good. Dear Team Harris Costume! Just the Oscars to go now and then Mrs Harris can put away her duster, fold her pinny neatly and rest her head wrap. She is a war baby and into sustainability so will have gotten a lot of use out of her outfit! She, Jenny and Team Harris Costume are totally thrilled to have been recognised for all the awards and even to have won 🏆 one – thank you BIFA!! We were very honoured. We were a small modest film but we got noticed! I think the amazing Lesley Manville may have had something to do with that! Thank you all so much! On the last lap now but so wonderful to have had time here in LA between awards and met so many lovely designers I didn’t know before. A privilege – the Guild evening was wonderful and fun! We are a good strong bunch. @mrsharrismovie

Mrs Harris had a wonderful time at the BAFTAs seeing lots of old (and not so old) friends and drinking an immoderate amount of champagne … Mrs Harris took her trusty friends Sally and Lauren to keep her on the straight and narrow – not an easy job when an excitable cleaning lady gets let loose at a ‘do’ in the Festival Hall. We didn’t win but were in excellent company – Emma Thompson, Colin Farrell and Michelle Yeoh to name but 3!! It is just wonderful that our film was ‘noticed’! She felt very comfortable in the elegant coat and pinny made for her by the great Tim Perkins. Tim has made an eclectic mix of clothes and costumes for me over the years. Flowers from Daisy Gilbert of Moonriver Content – she thought the handbag was very Mrs Harris!! So, now Mrs Harris is packing up her feather duster as it is off to LA! There will be plenty of work to do there cleaning and polishing .. Mrs Harris and Team Harris would like to thank Universal / Focus who have looked after us so well at the BAFTAs and all the PR we have done – we had the lovely Ebba keeping us safe at the BAFTAs. Mrs Harris and I also want to thank the amazing Multitude Media, Mrs H’s PR, who are just extraordinary and look after us brilliantly – Emily, Niamh and Will Wood – would you like to move in to my home please? You would find plenty to do! So after the agony of packing (not dissimilar to choosing the 8 discs…) we will be jetting off to LA on Sunday .. I feel badly about the air travel but don’t know how else to get there! Well, not in a day … Apologies to the wonderful Lesley Manville, the true and only Mrs Harris. @mrsharrismovie @universalpicturesuk @focusfeatures @multitudemedia @timjohnperkins @lauren_reyhani_costume

The Search for the Perfect Pinny. As you can see from the period photos pinny’s and scarves wrapping the hair were very normal in the 1950’s for working women. Very sensible. They kept your hair and clothes clean when everyday life was more basic. No hot water on tap in many homes for example. Even with the generous stock at Cosprop we had to dig to find the perfect combination – but when you find it you all just ‘know!’ @mrsharrismovie @cosproplondonuk
Time to put Mrs Harris to bed, hang up her pinny and duster and just remember all the fun she gave us most recently at the Oscar outing! So here is a final Oscar photo dump to celebrate. Onwards and upwards! Just finishing my Oscar outing in New York and Claverack where I feel ridiculously at home … @mrsharrismovie @theacademy

Tomorrow is Desert Island Discs Day! The program you have always wanted to do until they ask you and suddenly you actually have to choose the 8 records for real … I must have wasted a ream of paper writing out my choices and life story to accompany the discs. Between the final decision, the recording and then the broadcast you can worry the choices over and over – should I have? Maybe x would have been better? On Sunday the wait will be over. Lauren Laverne was fabulous and I had a truly great time doing it … just the worry!! Enjoy! Photo: BBC/AmandaBenson @bbcradio4 #desertislanddiscs 11.15 Sunday morning BBC R4
Mrs Harris also had a wonderful evening at the Costume Designers Guild Awards. Again we didn’t win but we’re in excellent company and just had a great night out. Bette Midler was honoured and with Billy Crystal, who presented her with her award, provided the most hilarious speeches of the evening but also some very telling insights into the relationship between actors and costume designers. A seriously good evening. @costumeawards (Also rather a nice interview published in the Guardian today – on my story and also in the linktree in my bio)
I was a part of the Symposium organised yesterday by Deborah Nadoolman Landis, always a fun event. Such an incredible group of women costume designers – all speaking such wisdom about our job and life. I am totally honoured to be amongst them! @therealruthecarter @catherinemartindesigns @shirleykurata Mary Zophres Thanks to @andreasorrentino.as for the pictures!
