First official day on #PhiPhiIsland Photo 1 – after our #sunset #hike through the #forest we found ourselves at #NuiBeach just in time for everyone else to have left. Me in my favorite @averieofficial swimsuit Photo 2 – the rooms of our hotel @saii.phiphiislandvillage are all bungalows. By far one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in from the #design and #architecture, to the amenities and incredibly hospitable staff @kraicheleann @sajones6304 Photo 3 – exploring the grounds of our ocean front resort #saiphiphivillage early in the morning Photo 4 – we discovered the hotels #loveTree adorned with trinkets from the gift shop of people celebrating honeymoons, anniversaries, and friendships. Each heart has a hand written message from various guests and we, of course, eventually added our own. Photo 5 – their swim up bar in the #funPool was our first stop Photo 6 – trying the famous #thai #MangoStickyRice at one of the hotel’s 5 restaurants, was our second Photo 7 – View from our hike coming out of the #forest onto Nui Beach Photo 8&9 – #Longtail boats parked on Nui beach waiting for their passengers to return from their drop. Continuing on our #Thailand adventure… 1. Me giving an #elephant a mud bath at the @phuket_elephant_sanctuary 2. @thekevinbarrett bathing an elephant at #phuketelephanthousesanctuary 3. We were so happy and grateful to have spent a few hours with these #rescued elephants. Cannot recommend this #sanctuary enough. Their elephants are rescued from harsh and unethical labor like elephant tuk tuks, hauling building materials etc., where they are horribly abused (my favorite elephant here had been blinded by her “employer” for not doing what they wanted her to). They are now extremely loved and excellently cared for. The groups they bring in, like us, are super small and the education they provide to their visitors is phenomenal. What an experience! 4. We got our #scooter and after Kevin did his test drive around town solo, I determined I could trust him driving on the left side of the road in a town full of motorists, scooters, little to no stop lights, and tons of round abouts. We survived and it brought us to some pretty cool places we never would have discovered otherwise. 5, 6, 7, 8 – Like this little restaurant #forestandcafe nestled in the forest of #phuket No one spoke English so we knew we were in the right place and the food was absolutely delicious! The grounds were so much fun not to mention beautiful. Definitely one of our favorite discoveries of the whole trip. 9. Definitely the most interesting foot exfoliation I’ve experienced! #Phuket #nightMarket 10. Dinner @patongsunsetview During his solo drive on the scooter Kevin stopped here and somehow got them to make room for us for dinner with a prime view, even though they were fully booked. This place was recommended to us by @ployrungdebard and what a recommendation it was! Photo 1 – Kevin and I aboard the #AndamanSpeedboatFerry just before we took the most terrifying ride of our life. The waves were massive, our captain was driving way too fast and we were sent into the air over twenty times during the 1.5 hr ride. Multiple passengers including us were severely injured, traumatized, and ill. Another boat (not andaman) crashed under the same conditions & all the passengers were killed. Speedboats should never be sent out in these conditions. I want to make people aware. Do not take a speedboat – take the big ferry! It’s only 30min longer and much, much safer. Our first two days on Phi Phi were ruined because we could hardly walk from our injuries. The company claims “they have no insurance or liability.” If anyone had been pregnant on our ride, they no longer would have been. One thing we are truly lucky to have in the US is protection from and against negligence like this. Photo 2 – before we left #Phuket, we had #illy coffee at #HernCafe, one of the most aesthetically pleasing places! Surprisingly it took going to #Thailand to try @illy_coffee but now I’m obsessed. (I’ve already bought 3 cans in the little time since we’ve been back home 😂) Photo 3 – these two handmade cups were #antique decor from #ChangMai that were adorning the bar at Hern Cafe. I somehow convinced the owner to sell them to me. I’m obsessed. Photo 4 – Surprisingly I did not try any of these #desserts at Hern because we were always eating & I was way too full. But, my god they were beautiful! Photo 5 – We returned our beloved scooter to the rental company just before heading to #RassadaPier to travel to our next destination #PhiPhiIsland Photo 6 – me waiting for our #speedboat #taxi at Rassada pier in Phuket. My expression is foreboding. Photo 7 – We arrive on Phi Phi island, evident from the iconic #longtailBoats lining the shore. Photo 8, 9, 10 – our hotel @saii.phiphiislandvillage was a welcome sight. They absolutely spoiled us… but more on that in my next post and story! . . . . #honeymoon #honeymooninthailand #thailand #thailandtravel #phuketthailand #thai #adventure #honeymoondestinations #thailandhoneymoon @thekevinbarrett #saiphiphivillage
