When we began working with Rimple & Harpreet for this outfit, the heavy reliance on history was something that intrigued me greatly. The outfit is an ode to the Maharajas and their extravagant lifestyle, as well as the extensive commissions they used to confer on design houses and artisans from the world over. They have integrated beautiful miniature hand done paintings of various birds and floral bouquets in the jackets story, which have been embossed and meticulously appliqued inside gilded frames crafted with zardozi work – it spiritually signifies the modern day maharaja, a story teller, an eternal wanderer, who is collecting motifs of reminiscence through his travels. It brings out grace, finesse, luxury and yet the flavor of India that simmers in all its glory with the inspiration and the tedious efforts and magic put in by the creators of the same.
