I’m sick at home with COVID, but I have a message for my colleagues: Americans should be free to decide for themselves if and when to have children. Politicians shouldn’t get to force them.
I just got off the House floor where I spoke against Republicans’ Polluters Over People Act, which would give Big Oil free rein to pollute and profit at our expense. I went live to share the facts about how this bill would hurt our environment and leave families behind.
In September, we raise awareness for the 22 million Americans in recovery and those still struggling. I’m proud the House passed my bill to send health professionals when 911 is called for someone experiencing a substance use crisis. #CongressGoesPurple #NationalRecoveryMonth
Abortion isn’t taboo; it’s essential health care. Every American should be free to make their own medical decisions. Thanks, @jodihicks916, for stopping by and decking my staff and I out with t-shirts that’ll help us spread the word that abortion is a freedom issue.
It was great to visit Able Coffee Roasters, an Orange County small business committed to providing good-paying jobs for people with autism and other disabilities. I’m grateful our community works hard to include all our neighbors in the workforce. #WorldAutismAwarenessDay
Did you know that today is Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day? I’m proud to represent a district that leads on innovation, and this week, I had the opportunity to learn from the researchers about the cutting-edge work happening at the UCI National Fuel Cell Research Center.

We honor those lost on 9/11, their loved ones, the survivors, and everyone who helped save lives that day by working together to create a better future. This week, I joined @IrvineValleyCollege and @unitedwayoc to launch a day of service in memory of 9/11 victims. #NeverForget911

Every 4th grader in America is eligible for Every Kid Outdoors, a program I’m strengthening that lets kids and their families into our national parks for free. Thanks, @secdebhaaland, for helping me spread the word about this special opportunity to Orange County students!

Longtime OC resident Lt. Col. Robert Friend was one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American military aviators, who fought fascism abroad and racism at home. I was proud to host a post office naming ceremony with his family in his honor.

Our public lands belong to every American—and every American should get to enjoy them. I was honored to receive an award from Outdoors Alliance for Kids for promoting and strengthening the Every Kid Outdoors Program, which lets 4th graders and their families into our national parks for free.

California is suffering its worst drought in centuries. I’m proud to have helped bring federal resources back to Orange County that’ll help our community shore up our water supplies. Thanks, @SecDebHaaland, for visiting OC to see firsthand the innovations we’re investing in!

We all deserve equal justice under law. I hosted advocates for a roundtable discussion on how government can better serve LGBTQI Americans, including by ending the hateful ban on gay and bisexual men donating blood and by passing my bill to protect consumers who change names.

Welcome to the OC, Secretary Granholm! I’m proud to represent a community that has consistently been at the forefront of innovation. Our federal investments in clean energy are going to create good-paying jobs and strengthen our nation’s economy. Thanks to the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council for hosting!
Last week, Interior @SecDebHaaland and I met with local tribal leaders to discuss how we can best work in partnership to pursue justice and promote equal opportunity for Native Americans in Southern California.
