So proud of our little film. To see Brian and Charles dancing in the kitchen on the giant screen with Cate Blanchett, Viola Davis, Michelle Yeoh and Julianne Moore in the house eating chocolate BAFTA faces well that was magic.
I have a lot of people to say thank you to who made me look presentable on the red carpet. Prepare for hyperbole. It takes an army.
First. My friend and Pygmalion @mary_fellowes who spends her life now working tirelessly to make fashion more sustainable and less hideously polluting. She lent me my heavenly blue vintage velvet and assembled the crack team tasked with my transformation. Without her I would be just posting a picture of my dessert.
Hair by amazing @gillsondavid at @issysbelgravia – he is quite frankly a magician. Thank you SO much, David!
I can’t stop stroking my nails thanks to Joan (@nails.issys) they are like beautiful seashells on the ends of my funny sparrow claws.
Stylists! Magazines! Publicists! Use South African maestro @lesleywhitbymakeup – who has just decamped to London – for everything.
A massive thank-you to antique jewellers @susannahlovisjewellers who have a shop in Burlington Arcade and who trusted me with unbelievable shiny things. A gold and diamond panther bracelet from 1980 I called John. A Cartier claw ring and a star burst of diamonds in my ears. Thanks to them I thrust the panther in everyone’s face all night and no one thought I was weird.
Right I’d better get these fake eyelashes off. Happy Monday, Kids. Royal Festival Hall

My new headshot. In it I also have shoulders and indeed some of a torso. I love @philsharp. He is basically the best; he paints photos like a Dutch master. This is in loving memory of my burgundy jumper which has since been gobbled by tineola bisselliella, the jumper-munching little fucks. Look at my great hair. Here I am also seen honouring my boyfriend’s team, Aston Villa. #utv #headshot #headandshouldersshot #castmeinsomethingwhileihavegreathairfortheloveofgod
Preparation for #BAFTAs tomorrow with #brianandcharlesmovie is underway. Pedicure? Check. Allergic reaction at local salon to eyelash tint? Check. Slice finger instead of pear with bread knife like a twat? Check.
In Lockdown we made a den under the house for reading and writing. I painted the walls apple green like Milly Molly Mandy’s attic, found a table in a skip, bought grass wallpaper made of actual grass for the ceiling. I filled it with ferns, cacti, fleshy succulents with leaves like ear lobes & the spoils from thirty years of car-boot sales.
These include an old postcard of the Pantheon (Shepherds Bush), an embroidery of an owl in a birch tree (Toronto), a 1956 painting of a basket of fruit (NYC), an Automatic Steriliser (Bristol) and the belly of a crocodile (Wellingborough).
The ceiling is only 5’7” high in here (I’m little, so I’m alright, Jack) but there’s a day-bed with cushions and blankets and it faces west so the Spring sun has found me. Last winter the old doors fell off and the foxes came to camp. Today, a whiff of Sadolin from the new doors, and the sound of London’s birds singing in the Spring and the sun down, over the hill and far away. Gilb, seldom one to miss a shot at a sunbathe, is in seventh heaven. We have reached peak Sunday.
A dry cauliflower bap and Edward Krasiński at @tate. Tate Modern
We finally made it out into the day as the sun went down.
Thank-you to all my darling ones, to Ferdo, and to Fraser, Deedee, Emilia & the glorious guys at @skylarkingpeckham, who could not have been more brilliant.
I love you, my mama. You would have said “Wow” when you saw the cake and my friends singing me on. I’d give anything, anything to hear you tunelessly laughing your way through ‘happy birthday’ one more time. Peckham

Yesterday I presented an award to my friend, the handsome and brilliant Matthew Gravelle. And End of Transmission, a show I was in with the peerless David Haig, won the two biggies – Best Writer and Best Drama – at the #bbcaudiodramaawards in the beautiful art deco Radio Theatre at Portland Place.
I can’t send this photo to my mum (who once upon a time would have printed it off on her ancient machine the size of a small car and stuck it in her scrapbook). So I’m posting it here. I don’t expect you to print it out. X
As usual all the props actually belong to my dream team @mary_fellowes (who lent me her frankly sensational velvet suit), @boredom_ily (for making it fit me), @gillsondavid (for yanking out some dreadlocks and then making my hair look like someone else’s), @nails.issys (a genius) and @lesleywhitbymakeup, who schlepped across town on a rainy Sunday night to wave her magic (mascara) wands.
PS Mary/Harri – I appear to have hoiked up my trousers too high because I was worried I was going arse over tit on the way up to present, so the requisite 1.5cm above the floor has not been observed. Soz.

If you have no mother now, if you wanted to be a mother and could not did not are not, I am standing on the top of Eilean na h-Aiteig, with the sea birds and the sharp grass and the wind, and holding you in my heart.
This morning is the Cast and Crew screening of our film Chuck Chuck Baby, – our musical love story set partly in a chicken factory and wholly in Flintshire. It’s at one of my favourite London cinemas. I woke up at 2.30 and can’t sleep.
These screenings are always the best, where we all celebrate each others’ hard work. But it’s scary to see it for the first time.
It’s also going to be a difficult watch because there’s some sad bits and we made it just before mama got poorly. Well, she was already getting ready to go but I didn’t know yet. We used to speak most days but didn’t during filming. And it is playing on my mind the way these things do.
Chuck Chuck is a celebration of working-class women’s love and friendship and – if I haven’t buggered it up – the director, my friend @janismpugh, is going to be a megastar.

Me playing Janis Joplin. Sorry, Pamela Joplin. In @mrjoecornish’s ahem number one Netflix show in the UK, Lockwood & Co. Cheers for all the messages about it. I’m sworn to secrecy on the plot front but it was a lot of fun and a lot of nighttime graveyards. This is me trying to get the remote to work so I can tune into #Lockwoodandco.
SELF-PUBLICITY KLAXON #2 Lockwood & Co launched on Netflix yesterday. Starring three brilliant youngsters (@rubystokess @cameronchapman__ and @alihadjiheshmati) with turns by these two old gimmers. We show up in episode four so keep watching. Another day another (hair) ‘do.
Amazing reviews. I watched it last night with loads of kids but I’m officially an adult and I loved it.
