ഏതു കടലിനക്കരെയായിരുന്നാലും ഇടയ്ക്കിടെ ഫോണിലൂടെ പറന്നെത്തുന്ന ചിരിപ്പക്ഷിയായിരുന്നു ഇന്നസെന്റേട്ടന്‍. മണിക്കൂറുകള്‍ നീളും വര്‍ത്തമാനം. ചിലപ്പോഴൊക്കെ ചിരി കൊണ്ട് വയറു നിറച്ചു തന്നു. മറ്റു ചില വേളകളില്‍ മണിച്ചിത്രത്താഴിട്ട് പൂട്ടിയ മനസ്സിന്റെ ചിലയിടങ്ങളിലേക്ക് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി രഹസ്യകഥകളുടെ ഏടുകളെടുത്ത് നിവര്‍ത്തി. ചില നേരങ്ങളില്‍ ജീവിതം എത്രമേല്‍ സങ്കീര്‍ണമായ പദപ്രശ്‌നമാണെന്ന് ഓര്‍മിപ്പിക്കുകയും അത് എങ്ങനെ പൂരിപ്പിക്കണമെന്ന് പഠിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഒടുവില്‍, ദുബായിലായിരുന്ന സമയത്താണ് ഇന്നസെന്റേട്ടന്റെ ഫോണ്‍ വന്നത്. അസുഖവിവരത്തിന്റെ ആമുഖം പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍പ്പോലും ഏതോ തമാശക്കഥയുടെ തുടക്കമാണെന്നേ കരുതിയുള്ളൂ. തിരിച്ചെത്തിയിട്ട് നേരിട്ട് കാണണം എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു. ഇരിങ്ങാലക്കുടയിലെ വീട്ടില്‍പ്പോയി കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ ഇന്നസെന്റേട്ടന്‍ പതിവുപോലെ ഏതൊക്കയോ അനുഭവലോകങ്ങളിലേക്ക് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി. പക്ഷേ ഓര്‍മയുടെ ഏതോ കവലയില്‍ നില്‍ക്കെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് വഴിതെറ്റി. പറയാന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ കഥ എത്ര ശ്രമിച്ചിട്ടും ഓര്‍ത്തെടുക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. അങ്ങനെയൊരു ഇന്നസെന്റേട്ടനെ ആദ്യമായി കാണുകയായിരുന്നു. അടുത്ത തവണ കാണുമ്പോള്‍ ഓർമ്മിച്ചു പറയാം എന്ന വാക്കു തന്നാണ് ഇന്നസെന്റേട്ടന്‍ യാത്ര അയച്ചത്. എന്തായിരുന്നു ആ കഥ? എന്നെങ്കിലും കാണുമ്പോള്‍ ഇന്നസെന്റേട്ടന്‍ അത് ഓര്‍ത്ത് പറഞ്ഞുതരാതിരിക്കില്ല…
