Vishakha Singh Instagram - These jeans from @lotuslinejeans are INSANELY comfortable!

I have been ‘off’ jeans for almost 2 years. Frankly speaking, the Indian heat and my long travel hours simply made jeans the last option.

This year especially, I have made a conscious transition to sustainable brands.
So no more Zaras, H&Ms , Topshop or Levi’s et al.

Put bluntly, denim is decadent in its use of water. According to Levi Strauss, 3,781 litres of water are used during the production and use phase of one pair of 501® jeans and 33.4 kg of CO2 is created throughout its lifetime. This includes growing cotton, processing the denim and washing at home!

Hence, I was only too happy when my friend and Associate Producer of Atkan Chatkan @dramanujam started her own venture , www.lotusline.co , of comfortable jeans made from organic cotton that use almost 80% less water !
Congratulations D! Great product!

Vishakha Singh Instagram - Thank you to all those who have wished me today on my birthday.

Not the easiest of times to be making merry in but then there is always something to be grateful for.

So, this is me turning away from all things negative - focusing on positivity. .

Life seems to be running in a loop - but at least it’s RUNNING.
And to that I shall celebrate 🎉 🥂

Happy Birthday to me ❤️🍭🥳🎂

Vishakha Singh Instagram - Gotta love Toronto ! Who would have thought an Indian would discover Ethiopian food in Canada 🙂
.
.
Had the best Ethiopian vegetarian lunch yesterday followed by a coffee ceremony. Couldn't help but wonder at the striking similarity between Indian vegetarian food and this.
A platter full of spicy lentils, green vegetables, cabbage, beetroot etc on a bed of gluten free 'Injera'bread (reminded me of our yummy neer dosa), this was one lunch that I truly relished.
.
Fun facts:

1)The Ethiopian Calendar has 13 months and it is 7 ½ years behind the Gregorian calendar. So yes, we are all actually younger in Ethiopia;) 2)Some of the best long distance runners are from Ethiopia

3)Coffee was discovered in Kaffa, Ethiopia

4)Teff, the grain used to make the Ethiopian staple bread injera is the smallest grain in the world and is rich in calcium, phosphorous, iron, copper, aluminum, barium and thiamine and is a good source of protein, amino acids, carbohydrates and fiber.  It is a great gluten-free option

With my dear @jennifersudarshan

The pandemic has changed all of us. The way we work, the way we socialise ..our priorities and outlook towards life have changed.

But one thing that has remained constant is rock solid friendships.

Can’t wait to travel again and visit my best friends and loved ones .. 🇨🇦🇮🇹🇺🇸🇮🇳🇸🇬🇪🇺🇬🇧

Until then - we mask up, maintain distance, get vaccinated.

Vishakha Singh Instagram - For two non conformists - this was a first!
Getting Vik to not wear shorts or tracks on a festival was an effort!
To get him to pose for camera was another story all together (and that cyclist photo bombing us 🤣 in the pic didn’t help )

Anyone else got a camera shy spouse? Vik is literally Chandler Bing! (F.R.I.E.N.D.S fans know what I mean )

Anyhow - back to US.

The day began with poojas in our new house and posing and ended as a quiet Diwali evening eating chinese food - just him and me after years.

Hope you all had a good Diwali ❤️🪔

Vishakha Singh Instagram - The advantages of remote working!
Took an impromptu trip with the Southern side of the family to KRS dam in Mysore.

I last visited Mysore as part of a school trip decades ago. Was lovely revisiting memories of Vrindavan Gardens.

Rediscovered the marvels of KRS Dam. The dam was built across the river Kaveri and completed in 1924. The water is used for irrigation in Mysore and Mandya, and it is the main source of drinking water for all of Mysore, Mandya and almost the whole of Bengaluru city.

In fact as of today, due to heavy rains, the Krishna Raja Sagara dam filled to full capacity and 75,000 - 1.5 lakh cusecs of water is being released shortly.

This trip was made more special as we were travelling with 2 super seniors in the fam who regaled us with their stories of visiting the dam as young teens in 1955!

Another proud moment was us seeing the names of a Great Grand Uncle in the family, Dewan T Anand Row and Great Grand Father P Venkanna Rao (who was an assistant Engg at that time at the dam between 1915-1920! ) at the entrance gate of the dam etched on the plaque.

Cheers to fun family (chaotic) trips and discovering family trivia!

Vishakha Singh Instagram - If there was an example of a film being ‘owned’ in the emotional sense by an audience - ‘Fukrey’ would truly make it to the top 10.

Iconic is the word I would describe the success of this franchise that started off as a small fun film starring new comers - backed by Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd , that went off to earn over 100crores in life time revenue in 2013 (Fukrey) and 2017(Fukrey Returns)

Yesterday we celebrated 10 years of Fukrey with the screening of the film and media and audience interaction post that. Gobsmacked at the love showered on us.

A lot can happen in 10 years.
While I transitioned by expanding my horizons to producing films and cofounding multiple StartUps ; attending the 10th Anniversary celebration was a reunion of sorts with some of my dearest friends from the film fraternity.

The credit for Choocha, Bholi, Hunny, Priya Lali, Zafar, Neetu, Panditji, Smackya, Billa and many others becoming known household names goes to the writers of the film - @vipulhappy (real life Choocha) and @mriglamba (also the director and real Life Lali) .

Look forward to the 3rd instalment of the #Fukrey franchise realeasing in Dec 2023.

During times like this the truly lucky ones are those that can be with the person/people they love most. Here’s a touching story about this photo by @tobiasvisuals: I captured this moment about a year ago. These two Fairy penguins poised upon a rock overlooking the Melbourne skyline were standing there for hours, flipper in flipper, watching the sparkling lights of the skyline and ocean. A volunteer approached me and told me that the white one was an elderly lady who had lost her partner and apparently so did the younger male to the left. Since then they meet regularly comforting each other and standing together for hours watching the dancing lights of the nearby city. I spend 3 full nights with this penguin colony until I was able to get this picture. Between not being able or allowed to use any lights and the tiny penguins continuously moving, rubbing their flippers on each other’s backs and cleaning one another, it was really hard to get a shot but i got lucky during one beautiful moment.
Photo & story by @tobiasvisuals, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did 🙏🏽 🐧 #earthfocus
Vishakha Singh Instagram - Participated in a panel discussion during "Celebvyakti” hosted by Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, #iitkanpur last week.

Dr. Arati Gupta served as the panel's moderator, and my co-panellists included Gautam Kumar , cofounder of FarEye , a logistics SaaS startup that raised $100 million in a Series E round in 2021, and Anish Popli , founder of ProcMart , a procurement marketplace that has raised $10 million in funding in 2022.

We shared notes on the topic "From Startup to Stardom: The Power of Storytelling" and discussed the significance of developing a personal brand for a start-up entrepreneur , among other challenges.

Ran into Dr. Anita Gupta (the department of science and technology's head of innovation and entrepreneurship) who was a part of my early start-up journey in 2017 and recounted our SF days.

Thank you @swatityagi986 and team on a fantastic event. I got the opportunity to meet with some incredible young entrepreneurs building unique solutions.

Vishakha Singh Instagram - Preproduction work can be quite a lot of fun. Had a wonderful time on my first trip to Srinagar this weekend, combining work and play! ⚽️🚣‍♂️

Took a fantastic Shikara ride on the iconic Dal Lake and soaked in the beauty while scouting locations for our upcoming sports web series. Srinagar's economic growth in the last few years is encouraging 💼💪

The people were simple– their hospitality and down-to-earth nature won me over.

Two food places that impressed me : Cafe Liberty, where I had the best downtime with delicious food and cozy vibes, and Lhasa Restaurant, a fusion food paradise. 🍛🍻

The weather was perfect, local line production facilities very professional , locations were stunning. It’s no wonder film making has resumed in the valley.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has placed the licensing system under the Public Service Guarantee Act as part of the new film policy (PSGA). The JK administration has a set deadline of 30 days in which to grant filmmakers' permission. Moreover, a single-window system has been implemented to make things simpler for the producers. Filmmakers can submit online requests for authorization.

Look forward to more travels. If you have been to Srinagar or other areas of Kashmir, do share your reccos!

Vishakha Singh - 6.8K Likes - These jeans from @lotuslinejeans are INSANELY comfortable!

Vishakha Singh - 4.5K Likes - Gotta love Toronto !

Vishakha Singh - 3K Likes - Participated in a panel discussion during "Celebvyakti” hosted by Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, #iitkanpur last week.

Vishakha Singh - 3K Likes - Preproduction work can be quite a lot of fun.

Srinagar’s economic growth in the last few years is encouraging 💼💪 The people were simple– their hospitality and down-to-earth nature won me over. Two food places that impressed me : Cafe Liberty, where I had the best downtime with delicious food and cozy vibes, and Lhasa Restaurant, a fusion food paradise. 🍛🍻 The weather was perfect, local line production facilities very professional , locations were stunning. It’s no wonder film making has resumed in the valley. The Jammu and Kashmir government has placed the licensing system under the Public Service Guarantee Act as part of the new film policy (PSGA). The JK administration has a set deadline of 30 days in which to grant filmmakers’ permission. Moreover, a single-window system has been implemented to make things simpler for the producers. Filmmakers can submit online requests for authorization. Look forward to more travels. If you have been to Srinagar or other areas of Kashmir, do share your reccos!
