Hope you guys enjoy #ponniyinselvan2 in theaters! Here are a couple of selfies I managed to take in costume early on. Thank you to Mani sir, @madrastalkies @lyca_productions, the technicians, co actors, and the team for a one of a kind experience. It was fantastic working with so many people I looked up to over the years, as well as the young talent in front and behind the screen and be part of film history.
Most importantly, thank you to the fans for being so warm and loving. I enjoyed seeing the memes and comments for the last couple of years, saying, “I read the book, I know what happens to you.” Well, now the movie is out, and whether or not I am the twist in the end, I’m happy you guys accepted me as #sendhanamudhan, the flower seller, ardent siva bhakthan, and true love of poonguzhali
I hope you will keep me in your imagination when you read the books again for yourselves and future generations. That would be the greatest gift. Thank you so much.
Love,
Ashwin

Who doesn’t love ‘The Big Lebowski’?
“just take it easy, man.”
I wanted to shoot a series of photos recreating the spirit of iconic films/genres/roles that made an impression on me. As a movie fan, as a cosplay geek, and a photography enthusiast, this is my tribute to the images I love.
My #CinemaSpirit series.

On my first day of shoot in #vikramgaikwad sir’s makeup chair in Thailand. Getting ready for makeup and they had look test and notes as references for the make up.
Vikram sir is such an encyclopedia of film knowledge and history. It was an honor to work with him and his make up team! They worked like an army, getting up at around 2 am and getting the actors ready with the costume team.
Loved the experience of being in the hands of a master craftsman!

On 26th April 2023, Advaith Isaac Ramkumar passed away. I’ve known him since 2009. We bonded immediately when we met over our shared love of comic books, batman, superhero films, Star Wars, and other geek stuff.
He went on to become an assistant director and work in films like 24, Hello and Gang Leader. In the last few years of the pandemic, we used to talk every day and discuss ideas, stories, and films. He was a hard worker, and we worked together on a couple of short films I directed. He had just finished writing his own screenplay, and I had written my own. We helped each other through writers’ blocks and other obstacles life threw our way. We made a pact. If he directed first, I was going to help as an actor or creative producer, and if I made mine first, he was going to be a creative on it.
So it’s heartbreaking on so many levels that he’s gone. Gone too soon, gone before he got to achieve his dreams. Life throws so many things our way at the same time – birth, death, success, failure, love, happiness, and rejection ; we just have to keep our heads through it all. One step at a time, one day at a time. I hope he’s resting peacefully, knowing he is missed and loved by everyone he left behind. I held off on posting about this because I have been numb the last week and am still processing this loss. I didn’t want want to write this because I didn’t want to say goodbye. Your going away made me realise our time is limited here, and to try and make the best of what is there when it’s there. Take time to stop and smell the roses and look at the silver linings; I will miss talking to you every other day and chilling in your room, talking about ideas and cracking up over silly jokes. Goodbye and godspeed. Rest in peace.
P.S: I took the first photo, and he shot the last photo.

#Mood for the moment. #monsoon
A little window into what it was like to be there while filming. This portion was shot at ramoji rao in hyderabad and was where the shooting of the film resumed after the pandemic started.
The mood was ‘electric’ as we had just finished shooting the finale sequence, and you could hear the ground under the set tremble as they beat their drums. They performed with so much energy through all the takes and then finally one more time after the shoot was wrapped. These performers were brilliant!
