Daniel Brühl Instagram – Earlier this year, I was in Colombia with the @worldfoodprogramme and was given the opportunity to meet the Arhuaco indigenous people living in the foothills of La Sierra Nevada.

To enter the Sacred Territory of La Sierra Nevada, I took part in a welcome ritual. During the ceremony, the mamos, the male community leaders, ask you to symbolically spread water to the four cardinal points of the world. The mamos say that: ‘Just like the hummingbird that carries droplets of water to extinguish a fire flying millions of times to make it possible, outsiders must commit to carrying our message about climate action to the corners of the world in order to save it.’

Madre Agua (Mother water) is very important to the people of La Sierra Nevada due to the severe droughts they experience. In Latin America, the climate crisis is one of the main causes of hunger. If emissions are not reduced by the end of the century, 30 percent of our global food production is at risk.

Today on #SolidarityDay, I stand in solidarity with communities like the Arhuaco indigenous people to continue spreading the message about the need for climate action and to raise awareness about climate-driven hunger. | Posted on 20/Dec/2022 16:01:40
